1. O leader of the people, this is the plantation and the blossom
O scold of lightning, this is the sea and the rain
١. يا رائِدَ القَوْمِ هذَا النَّبْتُ وَالزَّهَرُ
يا شائِمَ البَرْقِ هذَا البَحْرُ وَالمَطَرُ
2. O night walker, no lightning guides you
Good tidings, good tidings, this is the sun and the moon
٢. يا خابِطَ اللَّيْلِ لا تَهْدِيهِ بارِقَةٌ
بُشْراكَ بُشْراكَ هذَا الشَّمْسُ وَالقَمَرُ
3. Jesus and Moses - by them the people live
And by them the rock of sustenance gushes forth
٣. عيسى وموسى فَذا يَحْيَا الأَنامُ بِهِ
وَذا بِهِ حَجَرُ الأَرْزاقِ يَنْفَجِرُ
4. Two branches from the best, pure origin they flowed
The origin produced only the finest fruit
٤. فرْعانِ مِنْ خَيْرِ أَصْلٍ طاهِرٍ بَسَقا
ما أَنْجَبَ الأَصْلُ إِلاَّ أَنْجَبَ الثَّمَرُ
5. Two kings settled in glory at the highest summit
Elevated, high above the steep ascent
٥. مَلْكانِ حَلاَّ مِنَ العَلْياءِ فِي شَرَفٍ
سَامٍ أَشَمَّ مَنِيعِ المَرْتَقَى وَعِرِ
6. Where success is attained, and wishes fulfilled, lush
And the spring of grace flows, verdant streams
٦. حَيْثُ النَّوالُ قَرِيبُ المُجْتَنَى خَضِلٌ
وَمَنْهَلُ الفَضْلِ سَلْسالُ النَّدَى خَضِرُ
7. Look at them both, and listen to the traces of their generosity
Until the sweet report corresponds to the news
٧. أَنْظُرْهُما وَاسْتَمِعْ آثارَ جُوْدِهِمَا
حَتَّى يُوافِقَ طِيْبَ المَخْبَرِ الخَبَرُ
8. They extended over the land the shade of justice, so it was obscured
Among the extravagances, and the assets, and the first harvest
٨. مَدَّا عَلى الأرْضِ ظِلَّ العَدْلِ فَاشْتَبَهَتْ
فِيْهِ الظَّهائِرُ وَالآصالُ وَالبُكُرُ
9. Through the family of Ayyub, sovereignty settled, and withdrew
From its surface the turbidities and bitterness
٩. بِآلِ أَيُّوبَ قَرَّ المُْلُك وَانْحَسَرَتْ
عَنْ صَفْحَتَيْ مائِهِ الأَقْذاءُ وَالكَدَرُ
10. Take what you see, and leave what you've heard about
This is the truth, not what the legends fabricate
١٠. خُذْ ما تَرَاهُ وَدَعْ شَيْئاً سَمِعْتَ بِهِ
هذا هُوَ الصِّدْقُ لا ما تَكْذِبُ السِّيَرُ
11. Oh Aal Shaadi, may God elevate your glory
And what our Lord has built no humans can tear down
١١. اللَّهُ يا آلَ شاذِي مَجْدَكُمُ
وَما بَنَى رَبُّنا لا يَهْدِمُ البَشَرُ
12. And God has disappointed what they assumed and expected
And God has fulfilled what we hope for and treasure
١٢. وَاللَّهُ خَيَّبَ ما ظَنُّوهُ وَانْتَظَرُوا
وَاللَّهُ حَقَّقَ ما نَرجُو وَنَدَّخِرُ
13. Sheath the swords, and regarding what you desire, submit
For destiny has made you needless of them
١٣. رُدُّوا السُّيوفَ إِلَى الأغْمادِ واحْتَكِمُوا
فِيْمَا أَرَدْتُمْ فَقَدْ أَغْناكُمُ القَدَرُ
14. The fortresses of polytheism through you have gained nobility
And every unconditional rule has been confined
١٤. مَعاقِلُ الشِّرْكِ قَدْ رَجَّتْ بِكُمْ شَرَفاً
وَكُلُّ مُلْكٍ عَلى الإِطْلاقِ مُنْحَصِرُ
15. Fear and forbearance - if they shook hands with a rock
The rock would shatter from their essence
١٥. خَوْفٌ وَحِلْمٌ لَهُمْ ما صافَحا حَجَراً
إِلاَّ تَفَلَّقَ مِنْ مَعْناهُما الحَجَرُ
16. You have armies, that if provoked to fury
With the like of God's armies you gain victory
١٦. لَكُمْ جُيوشٌ إِذْا جاشَتْ غَدةَ وَغَىً
بِمِثْلها مِنْ جُيوشِ اللَّهِ تَنْتَصِرُ
17. And your neighbor lives secure in the shade of your power
And how many peoples have rebelled when empowered
١٧. وَجارُكُم آمِنٌ فِي ظِلِّ قُدْرَتِكُمْ
وَكَمْ تَمَرَّدَ قَوْمٌ عِنْدَما قَدِرُوا
18. What you've attained is not your whole share
God is Greater, and British India is maimed
١٨. لَيْسَ الَّذِي نِلْتُموهُ كُلَّ حَظِّكُمُ
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَالهِنْدِيَّةُ البُترُ
19. To God, in your rule there is a secret He will reveal
And the first rain is a drop, then it pours heavily
١٩. لِلّهِ فِي مُلْكِكُمْ سِرٌّ سَيُظْهِرُهُ
وَأَوَّلُ الغَيْثِ قَطْرٌ ثُمَّ يَنْهَمِرُ
20. You have increased, through love of the Commander of the Faithful Ali
Thus the oceans, when the hailstones increase
٢٠. زِدْتُمْ بِحُبِّ أَمِيرِ المُؤمِنينَ عُلىً
كَذَا البُحورُ إِذْا زادَتْ بِهَا الغُدُرُ
21. Two glories, this belongs to Ayyub
And with the supporter of the religion of God victory comes
٢١. مَجْدانِ هَذا إِلَى أَيُّوبَ مُتَّصِلٌ
وَذا بِناصِرِ دِينِ اللَّهِ يَنْتَصِرُ
22. My praise falls short, though falling short is not my trait
For the noble, if they fall short, they make amends
٢٢. قَصَّرْتُ مَدْحِي وَمَا التَّقْصِيرُ مِنْ شِيَمي
إِنَّ الكِرامَ إِذَا ما قَصَّرُوا بَدَرُوا
23. O questioner about them, you task me beyond limit
The sand cannot be counted, nor can the rain be confined
٢٣. يا سَائِليْ عَنْهُمُ كَلَّفْتَنِي شَطَطاً
لا يُحْسَبُ الرَّمْلُ بَلْ لا يُحْصَرُ المَطَرُ
