2. The omens of dawn have disappeared, so pour me
What was left in the darkness of the goblet.

3. The wine that sparkled in the hand of its pourer
Brought joy only to one who is cheerful and delighted.

4. By Allah, it did not mix water with the wine,
Rather it mixed joy with happiness.

ู„ูƒูู†ู‘ูŽู‡ู ู…ูŽุฒูŽุฌูŽ ุงู„ู…ูŽุณูŽุฑู‘ูŽุฉูŽ ุจูุงู„ู’ููŽุฑูŽุญู’

5. It shone, so were it not to quench thirst,
We would have said it is a mirage or overflowing drink.

ู‚ูู„ู’ู†ุง ุณูŽุฑุงุจูŒ ุฃูˆู’ ุดูŽุฑุงุจูŒ ู‚ูŽุฏ ุทูŽููŽุญู’

6. It is the elite of generous wine, it did not make
Its drinker stingy except generous and open-handed.

ูฆ. ู‡ููŠูŽ ุตูŽูู’ูˆูŽุฉู ุงู„ูƒูŽุฑู’ู…ู ุงู„ู’ูƒูŽุฑูŠู…ู ููŽู…ุง ุณูŽุฑูŽุชู’
ุณูŽุฑู‘ูŽุงุคูู‡ุง ูููŠ ุจุงุฎูู„ู ุฅูู„ุงู‘ูŽ ุณูŽู…ูŽุญู’

7. The excuse for one who took off bashfulness
Or was reckless, is the hand of a coquettish slender one.

8. A moon, the anemones of whose garden are protected,
Unpursued by gazing eyes or anyone who grazed.

ู…ุง ุดูŽูู‘ูŽู‡ู ุณูŽุฑู’ุญู ุงู„ุนูุฐุงุฑู ูˆูŽู„ุง ุณูŽุฑูŽุญู’

9. He came with black hair when it darkened,
And a face like the dawn when it is bright.

ูฉ. ูˆูŽู„ู‘ูŽู‰ ุจูุดูŽุนู’ุฑู ูƒูŽุงู„ุธู‘ูŽู„ุงู…ู ุฅูุฐู’ุง ุฏูŽุฌุง

10. He sways like a willowy branch on the softness
Of his wrap, swaying to and fro.

11. The blue narcissus is shy of his glance,
And by his smile the bud of the wild rose blossomed.

12. So it is as if he is smiling with his dimples
Or as if adorned with a necklace and wraps.

13. In describing him and praising Musa, my mind is
Divided between jest and wit.

ู…ูุชูŽู‚ูŽุณู‘ูŽู…ูŒ ุจูŽูŠู’ู†ูŽ ุงู„ู’ู…ูŽู„ุงุญูŽุฉู ูˆูŽุงู„ู…ูู„ูŽุญู’

14. For the noble king, whom the world is set right for
And it is hard for me to say: Be righteous.

15. A king, if times were miserly to its people
With stinginess, he would be generous in munificence and expansive.

ุจูุฎู’ู„ุงู‹ ุชูŽูˆู‘ูŽุณุนูŽ ูููŠ ุงู„ู…ูŽูƒุงุฑูู…ู ูˆูŽุงู†ู’ููŽุณูŽุญู’

16. The clouds bow down when his palm competes with them,
So rain drips down from their foreheads.

17. The hissing lion is tasked with his justice
To graze the gazelle when in need.

ูููŠ ุงู„ููŽู‚ู’ุฑู ุฃูŽู†ู’ ูŠูุฑู’ุนูŽู‰ ุงู„ู’ุบูŽุฒุงู„ูŽ ุฅูุฐู’ุง ุณูŽู†ูŽุญู’

18. Swords scorn the shoulder of other than you,
And say, besides you are the necklaces and prayer beads.

ูˆูŽุชูŽู‚ูˆู„ู ุฏูˆู†ูŽูƒูŽ ูˆูŽุงู„ู‚ูŽู„ุงุฆูุฏู ูˆูŽุงู„ุณู‘ูุจูŽุญู’

19. How many orators mentioned others than him,
When the pulpit creaked, it said: โ€œGet off.โ€

20. They mentioned others so they robbed his virtues,
The home of the generous, his guide is a barking dog.

21. Amongst people is conflict in their religion,
While in his virtues all have agreed and reconciled.

ูˆูŽุนูŽู„ู‰ ููŽุถุงุฆูู„ูู‡ู ุงู„ู’ุฌูŽู…ูŠุนู ู‚ูŽุฏู ุงุตู’ุทูŽู„ุญู’

22. The lights of the caliphate drew him, so he ascended
From the fire of his semite mountain when it kindled.

ูขูข. ุฌูŽุฐูŽุจูŽุชู’ู‡ู ุฃูŽู†ู’ูˆุงุฑู ุงู„ู’ุฎูู„ุงููŽุฉู ููŽุงุนู’ุชูŽู„ู‰

23. That one spoke to him on a mountain, and with
The hand of the Prophetโ€™s cousin he attained favor.

24. Kings strived as he strived but they failed,
So he said: success of your striving has succeeded.

ูขูค. ุณูŽุนูŽุชู ุงู„ู’ู…ูู„ูˆูƒู ูƒู…ุง ุณูŽุนูŽู‰ ู„ูƒูู†ู‘ูŽู‡ูู…ู’
ุฎุงุจููˆุง ููŽู‚ุงู„ูŽ ู†ูŽุฌุงุญู ุณูŽุนู’ูŠููƒูŽ ู‚ูŽุฏู’ ู†ูŽุฌูŽุญู’

25. To Allah, how many blessings are in wrath
He has granted, and how many enemies he killed without being wounded.

26. A sword which blade gleamed in his cheek,
While death is behind its sheath when it flashed.

27. My lord, if my resolve dies in your absence,
Then your call is like the hand of Jesus when he wiped.

28. You were congratulated for the blessed new year,
With the continuance of your praiseworthy state which commenced.
