1. This is the quarter, what will its plentitude avail me
After the beloved, nor will its watering quench my thirst

2. As if it were the forbidden sanctuary, and the banner
Which waves, calling to it the hearts of those who yearn

3. My passion for one whose hand is like Moses’ smile
When I quaff whiteness from between his lips

4. Woe to celibacy! Does he not see among us
The Josephs of nations past their likeness?

5. Leave me be, my heart asked not about passion for an idol
For the people’s seduction, the Lord of men made him

6. He whose pride and humility love did not subdue
The judge of love will not validate his claim

7. He appeared and asked who is wronged, I said a youth
Whose injustice prevented to wet his mouth

8. No immunity availed his lover from him
As if his eyes were chained by beauty

9. O you who if compared to the shining full moon
Has wronged the one who compared you to the full moon

10. If he who longs is oppressed, he has
A Master who will spare him harm and forbid it

11. Generous Moses and his speech with the Speaker! What
Can you say, and God saved and delivered him?

12. He gives abundantly and exalts the living generosity
As if he were a beggar whom gave to him

13. His worldly fortune is tied to his Hereafter
So he is happy and his world is like his Hereafter

14. Upon the poor there was splendor when He initiated them
With gifts from Him, what sufficed them, sufficed them

15. An awe and brilliance of light veiling Him
From the eyes, so O Moses, God be to you

16. Look and see every person on earth in a man
God is Greatest, there is no god but He

17. The house of the Caliphate and benevolence He originated
The Lord of worshipers for us, do not let us lose it

18. He provoked the battlefields whose determination’s zeal
His raiding parties never raided nor captured but them

19. O You who when we lost the pearls provided us
With words discounted among the people their price

20. How much You have done and how much good You have granted me
The extent of thanks cannot reach its bottom

21. By it may blessings continue upon us and secure us
From what we fear, may God make His blessings last

22. My Lord live comfortably in ease and plenty
And be not like the wretched evil-fortuned one who envied Him

23. You inherited Noah the Prophet of God in an age
That exceeds the extent of days in its end

24. I hope to meet you not for wealth or status
For you are to me the cause and God is the Provider

25. So enrich me O son of the most high glory and be
A source of joy for me in what I hope and fear
