1. O heart, how much is this turbulent flood
That swept you yesterday and is sweeping you today

2. You suffered in love and made me suffer
And many serious things were dragged by jest

3. I loved him like a full moon over a lofty dune
On a tender palm tree heavily laden

4. The night in its shawl is vague
Upon a forehead whose morning is clear

5. As if the someone glancing at his cheek
Is an ant heading to the nectar of beauty

6. If you tasted, you would have tasted the saliva of his mouth
From his shining pearls, O sincere advisor

7. You excused whom you blame
And pitied whom you accuse

8. You thought, when he was soft and pliant,
That he was chaste, yet he is the penetrating assailant

9. My heart is a bird fluttering from me
And my gaze from it is a breaking assailant

10. He quenched us and increased the cup from his mouth’s edge
So we are all drunk with its intoxication

11. A gazelle whose fire burns from its farness
As if its guardian is the igniting kindler

12. The wine-pourer denied it avariciously
Until its strong fragrance guided us

13. We found through it a singing virgin
With a seal unbroken by any deflowerer

14. O sleeping one, while the star is setting
And the dawn is brilliant from its rising place

15. Leave life's disturbances, and take the pure
To live, while the toiling distressed one complains

16. The dark night has donned the dress of monks
And the raging thunderer and cloudburst roar

17. The world was generous to its people
And the noble and righteous became reconciled

18. Two honorable and generous kings
One has a sea and the other a pouring rain

19. Two pillars for the land they have reconciled
Two full moons guided by the bright one

20. Moses and Mahmoud when they come together
I say and my words are clear and true

21. This is Joseph whose brother has returned to him
And that disputant and troublemaker has died

22. Today the pages of enmity pray
The fires of war whose winds blow

23. Today the bases of spears shake
And the igniting sparks fly

24. Today the house of polytheism is inhabited
By those wailing and crying

25. Moses, may God reward you for His religion
With goodness, though the praisers were not fair to you

26. You strove to unite the elite pearls
For God, this is a righteous deed

27. You delighted the eye of Mustafa Ahmad
So his face is cheerful and bright

28. A king who sees gaining supremacy
Is a losing trade, yet its loser is the gainer

29. His benevolence spreads to the horizons
Like an overflowing sea, its water sweeping

30. Impregnable to the neighbor, kind to the groves
For God, the withholder and giver

31. Like rain, were it not for the ungratefulness from its clouds
Like a lion, were it not for its grim face

32. Say to his enemies, turn back in peace
For he is a sky whose good fortune is slaughtering
