1. The perils save you are frightful ones
And likewise the nights - your safety regulates their turns

2. And fate's decree ranks you highly
A summit no lower branch reaches unto

3. The fortunes of heaven have come your way
With their blessings - kinds and sorts

4. I bid the north wind bear my greetings
To lightly caress and gently kiss you

5. May the south wind in its return bear their reply
If the strong can bear the weak's burden

6. Describe Al-Hussein and you'll find he has beauties
That honor their guest and host equally

7. He whose passion is generosity
He whose soul spurns disgrace

8. And if a young man encompasses manifold etiquette
Despite the envious he has thousands of fans

9. Be, O Ibn Hirraz, the treasure house of my affection
Yours are its traditions and subtleties in perpetuity

10. I am forebearing in my clemency beyond the like of them
My way shall I ever follow tolerantly

11. My ambition spurns this lowly world
I vaunt my soul in its ferocity and aloofness

12. And for all the joys that have left me then returned
Like an eclipse does the full moon obscure

13. Without you sickness turns to emaciation
The wakeful eyed by the slanderer are deemed too thin

14. What pleasure is there in an office whose governors
Are abased while the dear one is turned away

15. Whose fortune is disposed by a fickle turn
A word, and a dot's misplacement can distort its meaning
