لا تنكرن لسابح عثرت به

1. Blame not the swimmer if his foot slips
Though he shoulders the abundant harvest's burdens

١. لا تُنكرنَّ لسابحٍ عثرتْ بهِ
قدمٌ وقد حملَ الخضمَّ الزاخرا

2. He threw his gaze upon the sultan
And fell there to greet with peace unprompted

٢. ألقى على السلطان طِرفك طرفه
فهوى هنالكَ للسّلام مبادرا

3. He outsped the winds in his running and you reined him
From them, for none can vie with you

٣. سبقَ الرِّياحَ بجريهِ وكففته
عنها فليس على خلافكَ قادرا

4. His strength faded as he remembered
That in private from you he's called a cowed lion

٤. ضعفتْ قواه إذ تذكر أَنّه
في السّرحِ منكَ يُقل ليثاً خادرا

5. When can the wind withstand a towering mountain
Or lightning conquer a pouring raincloud?

٥. ومتى تطيقُ الرِّيحُ طوداً شامخاً
أَو يستطيعُ البرقُ جوناً ماطرا

6. Excuse the lightning's fall during its course
For lightning falls when it flies on

٦. فاعذر سقوط البرقِ عند مسيرهِ
فالبرقُ يسقط حين يخطفُ سائرا

7. And slow your steed for his stumble was rare
The steed accepts the stumbler back

٧. وأَقِلْ جوادكَ عثرة ندرت له
إنَّ الجوادَ لَمَن يُقبلُ العاثرا

8. And beware the evil eye of the envious
Who looks on with evil gazing

٨. وتوقَّ من عينِ الحسودِ وشرها
لا كان ناظرها بسوءٍ ناظرا

9. And submit to the light of the faith, empowerer of the world
In events an aider and assister

٩. واسلمْ لنور الدِّينِ سلطان الورَى
في الحادثاتِ معاضداً ومؤازرا

10. And if the faith's reform lasts for its people
They need not fear the days' fickle turns

١٠. وإذا صلاحُ الدِّينِ دامَ لأهلهِ
لم يحذروا للدَّهرِ صَرفاً ضائرا
