1. The time has shone brightly with the radiant one,
The heir of chill and the cousin of the Prophet.

2. He came with truth, law, and justice,
So welcome to this noble one!

3. All people enjoyed his just rule,
Grazing in the pleasant, soft meadow.

4. They found from him in fertile purpose
No gloom, mire, or tribulation.

5. After long fear of an exhausting vigil,
They slept in the seclusion of security and gentle beds.

6. So congratulations to the people of Baghdad for winning,
After distress, every pleasant life.

7. I will come to his court soon,
Hastening so that I may win, not fail.

8. And make my life joyful with some new bounty,
And make my merit thrive on ample fortune.

9. And time will show me ready money for the taking,
What I never had before in ages past.

10. And desires will appear from which
Their attainment, all hidden, will be revealed to me.

11. My luck has turned innocent of misfortunes,
And good fortune will no longer be distant.

12. And I met cruel time, now returned
With a bright, cheerful face to me.

13. Go on, for if the time has been unjust,
Return in time is always just.
