1. O grave, the rain of satisfaction poured on you,
And the feelings of forgiveness settled in you,

2. And on your soil the breeze of wishes blew,
Spreading righteousness and benevolence.

3. For the eminent poet has rested in your soil,
His weighty voice saddened the scales.

4. O you who laugh in Paradise's bliss, you
Made those with two eyes cry.

5. None were more righteous than you in the past,
You spent it obeying the Most Merciful.

6. And you held on to Him in full adherence
To the fortresses of piety against Satan.

7. You strove to earn praise so you
Are guaranteed praise for an eternal life.

8. And all knowledge has made you outstanding,
At the forefront of your peers in its orbit.

9. You gave yourself to the Imams as a guardian
Of their covenants secretly and openly.

10. And you spent an age defending a faction
Busy with the noise of triangles and octagons.

11. You fought for your Master as truly as can be
Seeking the pleasure of the Benevolent, the Bestower.

12. How many lovers have you left suffering
The horrors of the abode of humiliation and feebleness,

13. The abode of afflictions, catastrophes, and hardships,
And the bitterness of sorrows and anguish.

14. You turned away from the house of delusion, so you are one
Of the enduring house in the most honorable place.

15. How many nights did you stay up
Pondering, praying, and reciting the Qur'an,

16. Calling out to your God in the darkness, saying:
"Redeem the captive who is suffering!"

17. If you were asked and you had an answer,
You'd have said, "He has delighted me and blessed me,

18. Permitted me access to His good pleasure generously, and
His affectionate mercy never stops enveloping me,

19. And He settled me into the House of Eternity,
In the shade of the Eternal, Trusted King,

20. And through His call I won what I wanted
Of my two Gardens, and was saved from My Fire."

21. Oh, if only you had lived longer in our lifetimes
For ages, while we were in our coffins!

22. Alas, none will remain in His Kingdom
Except God—every living being perishes.

23. So remember your family whom you left
Sipping the bitterness of sorrows,

24. And ask your Master to forgive us when
The Reckoning comes and feet slip.

25. Welcome us hospitably tomorrow when we arrive,
For we knew you as the most generous of hosts.

26. And may your Lord's prayers last forever,
Addressed to the Chosen One of 'Adnan,

27. And his family whose mention's spring
Quenched the thirst of every being in every tongue.
