4. Why then does the sincere advisor reprimand you,

7. The tale of your tearful valley has become renowned,
Telling the tale of the valley of Khumm throughout the world.

8. More honorable than any house under whose shade
The All-Powerful established the Imamate for Haydar.

9. The Prophet verily did nominate him after his order
A clear, illuminating nomination for Haydar.

10. When he stood at the pond of Khumm raising his hand
For a matter he neither retracted nor neglected.

And the father of his two grandsons, the Chivalrous and the Valiant.

Was purified with his ring and had fingers stretched?

13. For whom else did the sun of daybreak return
And sufficed him virtue among all people and pride?

Wrapped in its cover, shrouded?

22. God does not distance any but a misguided group
Who went astray and missed the shining path.

23. They discarded God's Book behind their backs
That they may oppose the clear, lucid text.

ู„ููŠุฎุงู„ูููˆุง ุงู„ู†ูŽุตู‘ูŽ ุงู„ุฌู„ูŠู‘ูŽ ุงู„ุฃูŽุธู’ู‡ุฑุง

24. By God, had they left the Imamate where
It was placed, the Umayyads would not have taken the pulpit.

25. They made him their fourth though he was their superior,
Their commanded one, and their ruler.

26. And they deliberately usurped the bequest of Fatima
And her inherited shares - an abhorrent matter!

27. Say to the hostile, you have despaired, may you perish,
Of my keen wit with its sharp edges, blunted!

The House of Ahmad without ceasing like a piercing spear!

29. I vow not to hate the House of Muhammad,
Glory keeps me from such disgraceful acts.

30. My maternal uncles are the honored Hashimites,
And when I trace my lineage, I mention Hะธะผyar.

31. A branch that grew in glory and its offshoots
Have flourished in the love of the Prophet's Household.

32. My great honor and pride is that I am their
Servant, and it befits one like me to be proud.

34. This is my creed which I will take
To the Gathering Place, if asked about it.

35. I have hoped for God's approval by loving them
And made it for myself the strongest means of approach.

36. O you who travels the path of glory briskly
Spanning great distances, an early riser!

37. March with utmost humility and lowered gaze
Rubbing the cheek of your face in its dust.

38. Where the Imamate, Trusteeship, Ministry, and Guidance belong,
Without doubt or confusion, is the greatest position.

39. Pause by the grave in which lies the Mistress of Women,
By my father and mother, how righteous and great!

40. Kiss its soil sincerely from a lover whose
Heart did not cease to blaze fiercely with sorrow,

41. Yearning worriedly for what she suffered
From the enemies without being able to endure or be patient.

ูŠูŽุทู’ูˆูŠ ุงู„ุณู‘ูŽุจุงุณูุจูŽ ุฑูŽุงุฆูุญุงู‹ ูˆู…ูุจูƒู’ุฑูŽุง

42. And go to the Prophet Muhammad's son and grandson,
The greatest of the two delights of his basil plant.

ูคูข. ุฌูุฒู’ ุจุงู„ุบุฑูŠู‘ ู…ูุณูŽู„ู‘ูŽู…ุงู‹ ู…ูŽุชูˆุงุถุนุงู‹
ูˆู„ูุญูุฑู‘ ูˆุฌู‡ู’ูƒ ููŠ ุซุฑุงู‡ู ู…ุนูู‘ุฑุง

43. Who divorced the world three times and took
The humble life of the Hereafter, preferring it.

ูคูฃ. ุญูŠุซู ุงู„ุฅู…ุงู…ุฉ ูˆุงู„ูˆุตุงูŠุฉู ูˆุงู„ูˆุฒุงุฑุฉ
ูˆุงู„ู‡ูุฏู‰ ู„ุง ุดูƒู‘ูŽ ููŠู‡ ูˆู„ุง ูŽ ู…ูุฑุง

44. Surrendering when his supporters betrayed him
And their abandonment left him uncovered.

ูคูค. ูˆุงู„ู’ู…ู…ู’ ุจู‚ุจุฑู ููŠู‡ู ุณูŽูŠุฏุฉ ุงู„ู†ู‘ุณุง
ุจุฃุจูŠ ูˆุฃู…ู‘ูŠ ู…ุง ุฃุจุฑู‘ูŽ ูˆุฃุธู‡ุฑูŽุง

45. The son of Hind hastened his death
Serving him a fatal drink.

46. Convey greetings from your namesake who, tomorrow,
Hopes by your intercession his sins will be forgiven.

47. And stop by at Karbala, for in Karbala
There is healing that has prevented our eyes from sleep.

ูˆุงู„ุณู‘ุจุท ู…ูู†ู’ ุฑูŽูŠุญุงู†ูŽุชูŽูŠู’ู‡ู ุงู„ุฃูƒู’ุจูŽุฑุง

48. Where he who, when killed, the heavens grieved
And for his death, the horizon wept blood.

49. So when you finish asking this one and that
And fulfill the obligation of visiting the shrine,

50. Return weeping to the shrouded one for whom souls melt,
Young men, when remembering him, regret.

55. He who sold himself to the Lord of mankind,
What an excellent deal! And what an excellent purchase!

56. He who rose with his sword against a heretic band,
Blocking the shining path.

57. Whose excellences cannot be bounded by any other's
And whose worth none can estimate or limit.

58. He of whom the Prophetic narrations tell with good words
Repeatedly, like those about his grandfather.

59. Saying about him as was said about his father,
Meaning Ali, the best of those who walked the earth.

60. That the sheer truth lies with him and did not
Precede or follow him.

61. He is the elite of God whom the guidance accompanied
And his beloved, according to the text, among the best of mankind.

62. The crusher of formidable armies when they are called,
The defeater of lofty mountains when they settle.

63. Everyone falls short of reaching his battlefield,
While he shines among the generous withoutdoubt.

64. By God, I swear that he is more majestic than any -
Other than the Trustee - and more esteemed.

65. He surpassed the masters of his House in generosity,
Radiant virtues that it is difficult to count or limit.

66. With a Prophetic magnanimity that has shamed
Even the pouring clouds by his munificence.

ูˆุญุจูŠุจูู‡ู ุจุงู„ู†ุตู‘ู ู…ู† ุฎูŠุฑู ุงู„ูˆุฑู‰

67. And an Alid courage that has silenced
The howling winds in their forests if they roar.

68. Since he girded his waist with the waist wrapper,
He has known neither lies in speech nor sin.

69. When every virtue in him was perfected
And a brilliant full moon traversed the horizon of glory,

70. And he saw misguidance overflowing in torrents
While the truth had completely turned away and deserted,

71. He unsheathed the white, gleaming swords of his firm resolve
To support the upright religion and grant it victory.

ุจูู†ูŽูˆุงู„ูู‡ุง ุญุชู‘ู‰ ุงู„ุบู…ุงู…ูŽ ุงู„ู…ู…ุทูุฑุง

72. He set out for the abode of immortality, O how excellent is that arrival,
Repentant, proclaiming God's Oneness and magnification.

ูงูข. ูˆุดุฌุงุนุฉู ุนู„ูˆูŠู‘ุฉู ู‚ุฏ ุฃูŽุฎู’ุฑุณูŽุชู’
ู„ูŠุชูŽ ุงู„ุดู‘ุฑู‰ ููŠ ุบุงุจู‡ู ุฃู†ู’ ูŠูŽุฒุฃุฑุง

73. Thanking God when he fulfilled his religion
And was granted abundant grace and favor.

74. Swearing with true oaths that if he did not have
Yahya, my son, as a supporter among mankind,

75. Neither my resolve would have weakened nor would guidance
Have returned to me, or else I would have died excused.

76. It did not please me to meet Muhammad
Without enjoining good and forbidding evil.

ู„ูŠุคูŠู‘ุฏูŽ ุงู„ุฏูŠู†ูŽ ุงู„ุญูŽู†ูŠููŽ ูˆูŠูŽู†ู’ุตุฑุง

77. So they came at him with swords bared
And the blunt spears of Caleb's wood piercing the plains.

And he served them a drink from the cup of death.

80. Until even the brave were confused by him
And their furious lion collapsed, defeated.

82. They left him with a bleeding forehead, and so
They left the upright religion blemished.

83. How strange they are! Foxes, yet they pounced
On him as if raiding Chosroes or Caeser!

84. They crucified him unjustly in the open, stripping him
Of his robe, preventing him from cover.

85. Until when they left him naked on
A dry trunk, transgressing and defying,

86. The spider spun its threads over him
To cover his protected nakedness from sight.

87. It had long ago spun for his grandfather, surely
A hand that deserves to be thanked, has spun.

88. The birds of the sky eulogized him in lament
When they witnessed a monstrous, shocking sight.

89. Is this how God's beloved, O people of suffering,
And the beloved of the best of messengers is discarded in the open?

ูจูฉ. ุนูŽุฌูŽุจุงู‹ ู„ูŽู‡ูู…ู’ ูˆู‡ูู…ู’ ุงู„ุซู‘ูŽุนุงู„ุจู ุฐูู„ู‘ุฉู‹
ูƒูŠููŽ ุงุบุชุฏู‰ ุฌูŽุฒู’ุฑุงู‹ ู„ู‡ู… ุฃุณูŽุฏู ุงู„ุดูŽุฑู‰

90. Strange indeed! And you recall Badr for him
As well as Khaybar - what plotting!

ูฉู . ุตู„ุจูˆู‡ ุธูู„ู…ุงู‹ ุจุงู„ุนุฑุงุกู ู…ุฌุฑุฏุงู‹
ุนูŽู†ู’ ุจูุฑู’ุฏูู‡ู ูˆุญูŽู…ูˆู‡ ู…ูู†ู’ ุฃู†ู’ ูŠูุณุชุฑุง

91. As for you, O Abu al-Husayn, my sorrow
Has not ceased to be new in its garb until I am buried.

92. After patience and anguish, nothing remains for me
Except my death - sorrow and contemplation.

93. How enormous is what a wicked people have done to you!
Damned they are among all peoples.

94. They led the armored horses to you as if
Invading Chosroes' or Caesar's land. Woe to them!

ูฉูค. ูˆู†ูŽุนูŽุชู’ู‡ู ุฃุทูŠุงุฑ ุงู„ุณู…ุงุก ุจูˆุงูƒูŠุงู‹
ู„ู…ู‘ุง ุฑุฃุชู’ ุฃู…ุฑุงู‹ ูุธูŠุนุงู‹ ู…ูู†ูƒุฑุง

95. O if only they had known who she was, they would not
Have fastened their arrowheads toward her, miserable ones!

96. When you served them a drink of destruction
And destroyed great numbers of them,

ูˆุฐูƒุฑุชู…ู ุจุฏุฑุงู‹ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุฎูŽูŠู’ุจูŽุฑุง

97. The tyrants then dispatched to you a penetrating arrow -
May the hands of its fletcher be paralyzed and the hands of its shooter!

98. O if only I had been slain in your stead, though
No ordeal was spared you by the enemies.

99. They sold their religion by killing you - curse them!
What a losing deal in their faith!

100. They crucified you on the trunk that if it knew
Who was on it, it would have collapsed and splintered into pieces!

101. And they forced you down while igniting their fires
To burn the protected, most pure body.

102. So in their hatred for Muhammad and their
Enmity that you may be buried, they threw you in the fires.

103. Darkness would have hidden you had your radiant
Forehead not shone, illuminating the dawn.

104. The lavender of Taybah competed in perfuming
Your grave, and the dust of Nejaf smelled of fragrant musk.

105. Blessed became the Euphrates by your proximity - if it were
Brackish, violent water, it would have turned sweet as Kawthar.

ูŠุง ุตูู‚ูŽุฉู‹ ููŠ ุฏููŠู†ู‡ู… ู…ุง ุฃุฎู’ุณูŽุฑุง

106. They scattered your ashes into the Euphrates out of ignorance
Do they think anyone who scattered your ashes actually did so?

ู„ูŽูˆู’ ูƒูŽุงู†ูŽ ูŠุฏู’ุฑูŠ ู…ูŽู†ู’ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ุชูƒูŽุณู‘ูŽุฑุง

107. Never! They are ignorant of the scent of your sanctified ashes -
Whether they scattered your body's ashes or ambergris.

108. Goodness came to you from Taybah visiting as a pilgrim,
And from the dust, an imagined scent of fragrant musk.

109. And in return for your advice when you stood for his order
And traversed in the darkness like the shining moon.

110. So rejoice in the pleasure of the Most Merciful,
For surely you are most deserving of acceptance and worthiest.

111. Congratulations! You have neighbored your grandfather Ahmad
And God granted you abundant recompense.

113. If the world had any worth next to its adversities,
It would have made you have the greatest share.

114. But you were, in God's great majesty,
Too noble for Him to grant it to you.

115. I wonder, will I be your neighbor
Or will sins drive me back to the wilderness?

116. Will I be prevented from you tomorrow when I am one whose
Love for you obligates never to be lost?

117. Say that the young man is present with us for the meeting, though
Times have cast him far from us and delayed him.

118. O best of those whose rising made guidance appear
On earth, and misguidance was routed and recoiled!

119. Excuse me if my praises of you were inadequate,

As long as your mention excels or is cherished.
