1. The auspicious union has dawned
A thousand greetings to the gathered beloveds

2. After intentions lengthened and journeys prolonged
Troubles ceased for them, ease replaced torment

3. What bliss has come true! What tidings
Proclaimed joyfully for eternity!

4. If only we could meet to softly kiss
Their camel litters, duty and more

5. When cups of union they pass around
Intoxicating us, sating all cravings

6. When dear ones return from distant lands
Bestowing favor and grace upon us

7. What gifts they bring! What place they hold
In our hearts! Never will it fade or grow old

8. I'll ne’er forget that farewell day
When we parted and the caravan pulled away

9. Taking patience from the weary soul
Leaving only a trace of camped tribes

10. After you left, sleep shunned me
Only meager rest my lot

11. Tears streaming down my cheeks
Unrelenting sorrows in my breast smoldering

12. O tiny loves, let me say it gently
Our loves are the sweetest and most precious

13. What wakeful vigils have you kept
Since you left, weeping hour upon hour?

14. Ask the encampment if loneliness prevailed
When the caravan departed one fateful eve

15. And the full moon rose softly glowing
Bringing radiance, altering the scene

16. Shaming the swaying branch, its poise and charm
Changing beauty and form therein

17. On the day we left, sorrow cast its pall
No longer could white compete with black

18. I do not doubt that my love was denied
Rather, wonder at the blood still flowing in my veins

19. I found justice in the tyranny I suffered
For the king’s justice spreads shade over the land

20. A king who rose like his father before him
In glory and grace that none can equal

21. A giver whose generous hands
Are branches fruit-laden, adorned

22. Sapling of glory nurtured by the finest soil
Each branch and root wholesome and pristine

23. Of peerless honor since his childhood days
Under the care of God, Most High, Most Sublime

24. With mighty hands that give freely when rains pour down
Not withholding like clouds heavy with hail

25. Religion harnessed his determined spirit
To slay misguidance with its arrows

26. Knowledge, leadership and wisdom were his
Giving freely, with valor, since a child

27. He was graced with merits rare indeed
None but he could claim such qualities

28. His supremacy manifests signs of favor
Still recited in the book of glory

29. The misguided cannot fathom his heights
Though versifying his praises day and night

30. Kings competed with him in the arena of glory
Yet he surpassed them with ease

31. Before his boundless horizons they stood
While he alone was the pinnacle

32. Acknowledging him, admitting
Yours is the right, the merit

33. He came to Basra and gave it distinction
Elevating it when he arrived

34. O noble king whose light shamed even the sea!
And brought sorrow and joy to all lands

35. Son of the best of mankind, purest descent
Of the Prophet's house, deeds and words

36. I congratulate you on this reunion
That has gathered glory and nobility

37. But I've congratulated long enough
Awaiting the rising of your luminescent full moon

38. To God of the glorious throne belongs
The most perfect praise for what He has bestowed on us

39. I come to you, my master, an ashamed slave
Walking the vast plain of your glory

40. This meager effort, my lord, please forgive
Your servant if inadequate or faulty

41. Stay well and healthy, live long
Accepting with pleasure beyond earthly pleasures
