1. Console her with weeping, not with condolences,
For the intensity of grief is invading her innermost being.
١. وَازروها بِالبُكا لا بِالتَعازي
إِن هَولَ الحُزنِ بِالأَحشاءِ غازي
2. The realities of anguish have melted her down completely,
So leave her be from expressions of metaphors.
٢. قَد أَذابَتها حَقيقات الأَسى
فَاِترُكوها مِن عِبارات المَجازِ
3. She had a thousand joys that doubled over,
Flying - after it, do hawks aspire for the falconer?
٣. عِندَها كانَ هِزارٌ فَاِنثَنى
طائِراً هَل بَعدَهُ تَصبو لِبازِ
4. Sudden misfortunes snatched it away and it disappeared,
Wandering, traversing the furthest metaphors.
٤. خَطَفتُهُ نائِباتٌ فَاِختَفى
شارِداً يَسلُكُ في أَقصى مَجازِ
5. The tender branch, the morning breeze bent it over,
So it doubled over as it was without a brace.
٥. غُصنَها الغَضُّ أَمالَتهُ الصِبا
فَاِنثَنى إِذ كانَ في غَير اِرتِكازِ
6. Often it flowed over it, so it flowed,
Shedding the yoke, yearning for the expanse.
٦. طالَما جارَت عَلَيهِ فَسَرى
يَخلَعُ النير طَلوباً لِلمَفازِ
7. So the life of her passion ended next to it -
Everything in the wild is for the pickings.
٧. فَاِنتَهى عُمرُ هَواها عِندَهُ
كُلُّ شَيءٍ في البَرايا لِلنجازِ
8. Every fallen or lost kingdom,
If its owner walks without caution.
٨. كُلُ مُلكٍ ضائِعٌ أَو ساقِطٌ
إِن مَشى مالِكهُ دونَ اِحتِرازِ
9. She tore her clothes in anger over
The loss of the prisoner of love after crossing over.
٩. مَزَّقت أَثوابَها غَيظاً عَلى
فَقَد مَأسورِ الهَوى بَعدَ اِحتيازِ
10. She almost scratches the cheeks of the sky
And splits the chest from beneath the decoration.
١٠. أَوشَكت تَخدشُ وَجنات السَما
وَتَشُقُّ الصَدرَ مِن تَحتِ الطِرازِ
11. The jealousy of the tender one - if you knew it
You would not withstand its violence on the day of trial.
١١. غيرَة الغادة لَو تَدرونَها
لا تَقيتم فَتكَها يَومَ البُرازِ
12. Her eye attacked the eye of her beloved,
And captured it, containing the best treasures.
١٢. هاجَمَت عَينُ سِواها عَينَهُ
فَسَبَتهُ تَحتَوي خَيرَ اِكتِنازِ
13. Since she saw her calling for clarity,
He seized the opportunity for the best gain.
١٣. مُذ رَأَها وَهِيَ تَدعو للصَفا
بادر الفُرصة في خَير اِنتِهازِ
14. For he saw a clearly beautiful being
That shames the branch with bending and shaking.
١٤. فَرَأى ذاتَ جَمالٍ باهِرٍ
تَخجل الغُصنَ بميدٍ وَاِهتِزازِ
15. Beauty has written on her glances:
"Guard your souls from the violence of the raiders."
١٥. كَتَبَ الحُسنُ عَلى أَلحاظِها
إِحفَظوا الأَرواحَ مِن فَتكِ الغَوازي
