1. You have in the mansions of glory the happiest rising,
Guiding to guidance and dispelling all darkness,

2. The heavens of greatness have made you a star,
Shining brightly on Egypt’s forehead in the nation,

3. So you have become in life a lofty protector,
To the Almighty, preventing with might,

4. Above the heads your banner appeared standing,
Dictating from the Most High every truth,

5. Intoxicated above the throne wandering like a bird,
But your intoxication is with the wine of wisdom,

6. Where is the son of Muqla, if he saw your movements,
He would become, from his shock, devoid of composure,

7. Egypt rejoiced from the Nile’s abundance and delighted
From the purity of your kindness like a wave,

8. With water, bodies are refreshed, but truly,
Souls are enlivened by the abundance of that gentleness,

9. O rising of good shining in the horizon,
O joy of merit reviving my mind,

10. I cannot fulfill the due thanks wherever
Mountains of favors have overwhelmed my weakness,

11. I came visiting your pillar, so you granted me
Wisdom that adorns me with the noblest of robes.
