1. Time comes with wonders in its turns
Mixing the sweet gift with bitter loss

2. Coloring it at times with loss after bliss
And at times with bliss after loss

3. Such is the life of glory I've lost
But thanks, for it was the seal of woes

4. Congratulations! Nay, we congratulate you for the position
Through which you brought smiles to the mouths of positions

5. Silencing the roaring of every opponent
And soothing the eyelids of every critic and companion

6. Launching at the enemies an assault, the finest
Like the assault of lions on foxes

7. Some people aspired to the heights, they aspired
To surpass you, in my grip that can pluck stars

8. They wished - never may glory progress them -
And fantasized with false wishes

9. They confronted what ignites for glory a burning yearning
Making the exalted angrier than a reproacher

10. When does an owl hunt cranes? Or becomes
The valley's floor higher than piercing stars?

11. You made them drink what al-Sāb has the easiest taste
And they retreated defeated and failed

12. I unsheathed against them a sword of determination passing by
Complaining of splitting the zealous anxieties

13. So each became, while reluctant and escaping
As if he had never been an eager precedent

14. They saw in you a might, seeking refuge from which is
Time, and the turns of fate fear it

15. O pillar of determination, if you tasked a shock that melts
It would kneel down, defeated, humble

16. It has resolution, if determination was for meteors, no
Suns of day or stars of night would have risen

17. And insight wherein a shining wisdom lies
For him, and the right arrow never misses

18. And a leaf of creation adorned with merit and munificence
A presence with which the clouds of favor pour

19. Therefore glory came to him, most desirous suitor
And the exalted coveted him, most eager suitor

20. As a sword the Shaykh of Islam strikes with
It worthies grasping purposes

21. May God of the Throne reward him for protecting
The exalted from the perils of perils

22. To you Ahmad bin Muhammad we incline
The reins of poetry and inclining antitheses

23. If you took lightning as wrath and bent
Your might to tame the necks of mighty lions

24. And crescent of horizon as a horseshoe, preceding
Your endeavors to the heights, steeds of plains

25. You would not attain the lowermost of what you deserve
Even if you were manifold in ranks

26. Are you not of the people whose noble deeds
Are struck as parables in every side?

27. About them every land present and past is translated
And every instant and seeker falls short of them

28. They attracted the she-bear of noble deeds and sipped
The best of glories from the teats of wishes

29. The age's neck was adorned with them and
Their exalted clouds poured over the waterholes

30. They shot the arrows of noble deeds and sharpened
Their edges as they unsheathed the swords of calamities

31. Lions of evil whom their awe deters
Kings of height whom their writings array

32. You who erected their towering minaret
And renewed what the hands of time wore out

33. You who reined in the pride of merit after its scattering
So you still hold the reins of eternity
