1. He slopes down from the highlands of Banas to the plain
So he became like the paralyzed, his saliva flowing
١. تهدل من باناس شطٌّ إِلى الفلا
فأصبح كالمفلوج سال لعابه
2. And my covenant with the piercing sword in battle
Breaks, and this is broken from it, its scabbard
٢. وعهدي بالنصل المقارع في الوغى
يَفلُّ وهذا فُلَّ منه قرابُه
3. And in the slopes of the rock his river has split
Increasing, so its two banks became hills
٣. وفي تلعاتِ الصخر قد شق نهره
يزيد فصانت ضفتيه هضابُه
4. And the best Indian swords are those whose blades are sound
And torn above the two edges is its scabbard
٤. وخير سيوف الهند ما صحَّ متنُه
ومُزِّقَ فوق الشفرتين قرابُه
