1. My Master Najm al-Din, winter has come
And the excuse for you has become clear and evident
١. مولاي نجم الدين جاء الشتا
واتضح العذر لكم واستبان
2. For the cold has arrived, and I am a man
Whose only protection from it is his tongue
٢. وقد اتى البرد واني امرء
لم يدف مني فيه غير اللسان
