1. You take pride in high offices,
And the mention of your glory spreads in horizons.

2. You have attained a lofty position in the circle of the eminent,
Below it are Venus and the shining stars.

3. Yes, the days have been blessed by you and set right,
And time has come to apologize for what it had yielded.

4. You have not ceased thanking God victorious,
And those who thank God are never disappointed.

5. It suffices you that the enemies in their cunning went back,
Out of rage and frustration over their failed plots.

6. Receive good news, your fortune is perfect
And glory, victory and triumph have descended upon it.

7. So say to those looking down from the heights,
"Make it brief, for in what you have said, I see no merit."

8. This is a sky whose hands rain down on us
Grants and clouds of generosity pouring forth.

9. A sea whose streams are sweet,
Roses and breasts praise its fresh water.

10. In words and deeds, it has shown noble character,
Speech adorned, and pearls scattered about.

11. They asked: “Who is it you speak of?” I said to them:
“The Spirit itself, the Hearing and Sight.”

12. The judge of judges and guardian of faith, witnessed by
Nomad and settled as sublime and virtuous.

13. The sea of loyalty, the garden of the exalted, and their delight,
Containing the meadows of meanings, their freshest garden.

14. Pinnacle of glories, excellent in his virtues,
Laudable in meaning, though succinct in praise.

15. Cave of dew, to which the poetry swarms
In times of need, like ants in droves.

16. It says, at the hands of its grantor:
On a rainy day, the most generous are the sea and rain.

17. You’d think, when he grants honours, his face
Lights up — yes, he is the fruitful date palm.

18. In praise of his conduct the parables have mingled:
“Is this a course to glory or a fence?”

19. Among the beauty of his gifts and habitual generosity,
He gives plenty to the hopeful and apologizes too!

20. All the virtues are confined to his attributes,
Except his irrepressible, inborn generosity.

21. His pens have thrived and blossomed through his munificence,
Beautifying and fructifying his gifts.

22. His right hand relates the tale of his bounty,
And his cheerful face truthfully tells it too.

23. My master! O eminent and virtuous one,
Through whom the world shines and prides itself.

24. Take them as marvellous, inimitable rhymes,
Glorious in meanings, every single one a gem.

25. Novel congratulations on your blessed year,
Rather, congratulations to all people for your joy.

26. So delight in them and in these fine, fragrant praises,
Whose perfume your renown has spread.

27. You remain safeguarded, secure and carefree,
Your sweet life pure, unstained by bitterness.

28. And you have not ceased, for days on end, to be gladdened,
With a heart, until the Resurrection, cloven for your foes.

29. The lutes of my meadows were never played, nor
Did song give joy and rapture like the strings.
