1. Stars emerged from the galaxies of their sleeves,
And shadows descended from those tresses.

2. Crescents rose from their halos,
Displaying wonders too much for their coyness.

3. They came forth from the abodes like consolers,
Gliding gracefully in the cold of youth.

4. When they glance towards you, be demure,
And when they turn away, behold them turn away.

5. The killers, the plunderers, the robbers
Wearing silk robes.

6. Whenever a slender one sways,
You marvel at her as a fawn, slim and dainty.

7. It wasn't enough that she veiled her black hair,
She had to raise scorpions above her cheeks.

8. And her glances that search my consciousness,
Strike an arrow straight into my heart.

9. They make my heart recoil from her stern brows -
Strange that they exceed what's proper!

10. In them my youth and adolescence obeyed,
Yet my dignity and sternness disobeyed.

11. Take care, be wary of her glancing or singing,
Whether she is friendly or hostile.

12. So guard your heart lest she smile or sing,
And beware her, peaceful or warring!
