1. My Master has gifted me a sacrifice
More delicate than my state and my poetry

2. If I were to sell it and name its price
It would amount to a tenth of a tenth of a tenth

3. A she-camel that eats in one day
Multiply what is eaten in a month

4. Counted among the dead if you water it
As if it walks on embers

5. About to collapse emaciated
Before it feels the slaughter

6. Fit to be buried underground
For its tremendous worth

7. A mount I’ll make it, if
I rise not from my grave one day

8. But I fear in its weakness
To burden it and my back

9. And between them I became a laughing stock
Burdening it at the gathering place

10. If you were to see it atop my back
Bewildered, what to do in my affair

11. You would suffice me, suffice it
And pay the washer and enshrouder

12. So send Your servant anything else found
With grace from Us, and seize my reward

13. You remain the unique generous one
Triumphant in praise and gratitude

14. The breeze did not stir the twig
Nor did the moonlight cast rhyme upon it
