1. Live your life and let go of what has passed, O Ibn Yusuf
What is gone will not be grieved over, not even Yusuf

2. Promise with prayers from the one who calls you, the One
Who from afar and hopes has drawn near and recovered

3. To seeing you again I grew eager
To your generosity I grew eager

4. That long absence was only for my misery
Far be from you this estrangement and disdain

5. My stratagems failed me, and my patience and endurance waned
My forbearance gave out, and fate never spared

6. I have come to have no companion or friend
Or master whom I praise fairly

7. It is enough of my state that I am a man whose
Sustenance suffices, and the sweetest life is partly enough

8. This is the tale of woe I have raised to you
Some of what I faced, though more remains obscured

9. Perhaps, hopefully, you may generously grant me a servant
To aid me against calamities, sincere and true

10. If someday you allow it, then my wish is fulfilled
Otherwise, I'm confident in you and your loyalty

11. I know generosity is your nature
And it remains your way without pretense

12. You are a treasure to me, with no obstacle
You strive for my benefit and will not halt

13. You have always brought me good fortune
And aided me in fate's turning, a true ally

14. Far be it from you to heed slander
And the rebuke of a blamer in ignorance and violence

15. Who deliberately utters false words about us
And out of envy casts adorned tales

16. You remain righteous, gracious to the weak
Bestowing kindness and sympathy on them

17. My praise of you remains sealed with musk
Scenting those who know you with its perfume

18. Remain the delight of my eye, gathering all
With your days wholly clear and serene

19. As long as the wind blows through the stones
And the leaves of the branches sing out
