1. He saw carnelian so his tears flowed
A lovelorn, his blood prolonged by separation

2. Do not think his eyelids are adorned with kohl from sleep
No, after you, his eyes know no restful sleep

3. His eyelids wounded by his tears but
For their wounds the judge of love offers no redress

4. So depict him however you wish for indeed
In beauty's splendor, all depictions suit him

5. It does no harm, if you join his rope to yourselves
As a youth among you, though he's shackled fast

6. You are his tribe, though you claim a blade stands between you
Indeed it stands ready to slay me, sharpened well

7. Your love made me a wanderer, brought to ruin
And now separation's poison is my drink

8. You showed me the rugged path to you, not to be made smooth
By any guidance offered in love

9. My body is ravaged by passion's disease
Until it seemed to find excuse in sickness

10. The meaning of its emaciation puzzles minds
As if I were but fantasy in comprehension

11. This, and how many slain by love for you
Lie dead in tears that wash them for burial

12. They blame me for your torment, not knowing
The home of love is already filled

13. Whether they rebuke or pardon me,
It's equal in my eyes, condemned or absolved

14. Oh companion, leave off mentioning the beloved, for
In happiness his heart today has shut its doors

15. In the bracelet-wearer I have no true love
Save the seal of prophets, the goal and path

16. Muhammad son of two slaughtered, intercessor for us
This account of him is passed down and verified

17. Hoping his pardon, of trusted character
My rhymes with "granted" and "hope" ring true

18. Taha and Ya Seen, cave of prophets, and He
Upon whom “Haa Meem” was sent down in verses

19. Best of prophets in merit and nobility
With nothing else compared or deemed superior

20. He ascended to seventh heaven seeking
What no other attained, not Michael or Gabriel

21. The lion knelt when he was sent, and before
His birth, the elephant was filled with fear

22. Resolute in purpose, a hero in valor
Brandishing the swords of God, drawn for battle

23. With guidance, mercy for the worlds, he came
A bearer of glad tidings, though each has interpretation

24. He brought people the Quran, abrogating
With it Torah and Bible, illumination

25. That clear truth through him ongoing does
Rise up while those falsehoods descend degraded

26. Till banners of Islam were raised up high
Instantly, and those idols were ruined and scattered

27. The hordes of disbelief turned and fled
Their swords of false deities hanging useless

28. Leave off the Christians' talk about their prophet
However you wish, praise him as you desire

29. This one whom the Book praises in detail
Mentioning him, reciting his revelation

30. This one whose merit cannot be counted, and he
Rightfully is given preference doubled over preference

31. From his fingers, water flowed out fresh and pure
Not Euphrates, Sihon, or Nile can compare

32. His voice's echo at Badr in its rising
Made them cry "God is great!" and granted victory

33. Nights were illuminated by them, adorned
As if they were pearls threaded on a necklace

34. From the darkened clouds emerges their brilliance
As if the glow of lightning flashed from them

35. Their arrows in the frenzied sky wrought havoc
Among the foe like birds of prey do harm

36. In the campaign's fury they never wavered
Nor for death's waters did they sound retreat

37. The fair-skinned maidens offered no distraction
Nor honeyed drinks sweetened to inebriate

38. How many bodies did they pierce with spears
Dotted with moles and vowels to elucidate

39. They ruled and prospered, ascending on high
Revering the greatest Messenger profoundly

40. I wish I knew, will there come a day I see him
And before my death, to kiss his tomb be granted?

41. To adorn my eyes with his tomb's dust, even
From a mile's distance, with miles between us spanning

42. Without him, the pure spring water has no taste for me
Nor does fresh rain at Al-Abtah slake my thirst

43. O seal of prophets, cave for all mankind, and He
On whom for aid on Judgment Day hopes are founded

44. Be my intercessor when my crimes are displayed
And the reckoning of my deeds is prolonged

45. My back bears the heavy weight of terrible sins
All my acts and writings condemn me

46. And my skin lacks strength to bear their load
As the subject and predicate correspond

47. I hope for your intercession come the morrow
On a day when no words or sayings benefit

48. For in you, O treasure of hope, is my expectancy
And you, O sought by yearning hearts, are hoped for

49. Even if I become dust in your devotion, I'll not
Despair, for I am bound by passion's fetters

50. Take this poem, stranger, with greetings
Made worthy by your praise to draw near you

51. Grown old from long separation, but for it
At your feast of nobility, a place is set

52. It comes imperfect, though striving to follow
The precedent, even if preference is for leading

53. So if, by it, hearts are brought close and it's said
“O son of a King, you are welcomed”

54. Bless the one whose perfection was adorned
By you, in praise of him virtue manifest

55. And his Family and Companions, for whom is
Magnifying and praising the faith without end

56. No full moon shone in night's wings with such brilliance
Nor meadow strewn with flowers of necklaces
