1. O Master whose deeds
Are paired with good fortune

2. And he who is clothed in
A robe embroidered with praise

3. To you I have come seeking
O my goal and purpose

4. I strive to attain your door
With my capacity and effort

5. You have promised me kindness
My master, with favor

6. Yet I have no abode
Bare and lacking

7. No coins therein
Nor singular treasures

8. No wheat bushels
Nor overflowing provisions

9. Nay not even a goat
Or cattle herd

10. See me bare
Worn down, friend of desolation

11. Stripped, wearing but
A mat of fleece

12. You would have fulfilled
My hunger and thirst

13. So bestow a restful gift
Upon prayers of hope

14. And take a fragrant ode
Beyond the scent of roses

15. And make it a passionate song
To sing without rival

16. And pay the price that perhaps
The price may return to me

17. For I shall not cease ascending
The heights of glory

18. Defying the rage of enemies
And spite of foes

19. No eastern wind blew
From Nejd over the sanctuary
