1. My hopes have been fulfilled with praise and thanks
And the face of congratulations has blossomed with the good news

2. And the breeze of nearness has blown to spread what was folded
And its fragrance wafted and the good news spread

3. And those gardens have ripened and become
Tripoli the radiant with its mighty name

4. And its days after what had darkened
Appeared as a new moon adorning the brow of time

5. And the sea of dew has settled next to it
And it flows upon its back like a sea

6. And with beauty how often has it adorned the gardens of its lands
And settled happily upon Egypt’s bosom

7. And attained perfection with brilliance and salvation
And surpassed the sun and moon with its light

8. The guide of righteousness, the chief judge, and he who was granted
A lofty position at the peak of glory

9. The spring of dew, Yahya, his generosity revives it
He rarely falls short of the eternal glory of Jaʿfar

10. And he has no shortcoming except that his right hand
Is generous with what it holds and did not fear poverty

11. So say to those who fear stinginess in their generosity
"Be generous in hardship and ease"

12. For he has no peer in his actions
And in every state he continues to excel

13. He has eloquent speech streaming like pearls
And his elegant meanings are like sorcery

14. His eloquence surpasses the best of orators
As does the fluency of his rhetoric the poets

15. And his position surpasses the highest summits
In virtue, glory, and pride

16. My description of him matches in meaning and form
So it is no wonder I excelled in prose and verse

17. And were it not for him, I would not have composed poetry
Nor would its beauties have revealed the sweetness of my poetry

18. O highest one, towards you my aspiration lies
Not towards Zayd or ʿAmr

19. So shower upon me the rain of your generosity, for often
Your hands have poured forth abundant and ample giving

20. So let my life flourish, darkened from burning passion
And my palms turned yellow from stinginess and thrift

21. For my heart is broken, heal it in your care
So it is no wonder if you mended my fracture with healing

22. My lord, forgive my late praise
For I am tempted by passion, and passion is my excuse

23. And for you from me is a garden
Filled with elegant words and blooming flowers

24. Its letters have beautiful meanings and refined words
And its phrases are like stars in their beauty

25. It is clear pearls about you and its words
Are like a necklace of pearls upon the neck of a beauty

26. So take it as a bride of surpassing beauty
Who has come to you veiled from seclusion

27. So shower the scattering of pearls upon her wedding
To you, and be generous with her dowry and bride-price

28. For you remain an ocean, racing to give generously
Vast of hand, complete and ample in righteousness

29. And may you remain for all days the zephyr has stirred
And the branch has swayed to the rhythm of the moonlit night
