1. O glimmer of fever that sparkled,
awakening together my eye and heart,

2. through it a tender branch I gained,
upon which my heartbird alighted.

3. What a delicate, graceful branch it is,
which inspired lyrical couplets in praise.

4. A gentle gazelle resting in the meadow,
if only one day it would graze for my love!

5. I remain compliant to passion guarding it,
though it neglected to keep its vows to me.

6. Its tender body bends with such grace,
it nearly breaks from its delicate form.

7. Its noble stature told of its origins,
a full moon rising over a branch.

8. Its glances at me shot arrows
that struck a place within my heart.

9. How I wish to lower my gaze from it,
while it remains lofty, not stooping to me.

10. It turned away harshly showing me cruelty,
leaving my heart cracked with aloofness.

11. And to the slanderer it lent its hearing -
enough! It heard a baseless rumor.

12. The accuser maligned me out of ignorance,
then seeing the truth turned back.

13. I love none but it, leave me to a passion
too vast for Hind and Asma combined.

14. I will not find solace from its love,
nor see a path to union with it.

15. If I cast my eye upon another
I find no place for them within my heart.

16. Ask my eyes what tears I cried,
do not ask if separation left me untouched.

17. I made sleep a pillow so my tears flowed,
denying rest to my eyes.

18. Send my phantom visitor to my eyes,
let my phantom visit where is no rest.

19. Do not blame me if I strive toward it,
one can only attain what one seeks.

20. So follow, my friend, glory and advance boldly
into the sanctuary of hopes with haste.

21. Shaykh of Islam, imam of the age
from the noble Farfur family, a means to intercession.

22. You are the garden of knowledge, the exemplar,
the requested path in which the garden thrived.

23. The piercing, lofty, highborn star,
who gathered all the heights of merit.

24. You attained the furthest extent of worth and pride,
and ascended to the highest honored abode.

25. You embodied virtue, munificence, brilliance,
in qualities imprinted upon you.

26. How could you not rise high when as an infant
you suckled the milk of greatness at the breast?

27. The discerning nearly judged what had not
previously been glimpsed by any seer.

28. When your magnificent command appears
and you produce wondrous sciences,

29. you have no fault when you give generously
except that you exhaust what you amassed.

30. And if I sought rain from your right hand for my worries,
downpours of rain and sprayers would pour forth.

31. Do not compare your ocean-giving hand
to one unable to equal a finger.

32. Do not liken it to rain, though sometimes
rain's downpour brings harm and its drizzle benefit.

33. Your door to generosity has become a sanctuary,
one who journeys there succeeds.

34. O imam of the age, O finest melody,
and the spiritual preacher of lofty sermons.

35. Receive these strung pearls from me,
the essence of gems with which they are encrusted.

36. Your praise has enhanced their beauty, so they related
a sweet, refreshing tale.

37. Mention of you has spread like the fragrant musk
from aloeswood blazing with heat.

38. May God increase you in probity and reverence,
and clothe those exemplary qualities with devotion.

39. And may you meet with vast plains and good tidings
and all people together.

40. Your munificence suffices, the gift and praise,
while our prayer suffices for you.

41. So remain and be well, for time turns favorably for you
to a sphere of honor and rising fortune.

42. O Lord of Highness, may you never cease
to gain praise and wear vestments of honor.

43. And unto us may blessings continue to flow
like a running spring, never cut off.

44. While the garden thrives and its melody sounds,
its beauty ever flourishing with vigor.
