1. I swear by your covenant and affection
That I have not attained my desire in love

2. And you are envied by the censurers, but that was not enough
Until even the loving envied my love

3. And for my misfortune in love, companionship has become difficult
When you distanced yourselves and it became hard to visit

4. That is only because the tendencies of estrangement
Have increased while my eyelids were adorned with wakefulness

5. So they passed my madness on to others when they saw you
While the one who meets spends the night at the rendezvous

6. O beloved ones, return and be present for a meeting
For I have become stingy and weary of my visitors

7. My soul leads to you, obeying my passion
O reproacher, be content that I am in a valley

8. While you are in another valley, away from passion
How far between one who seeks righteousness

9. And one whose estrangement I intend to corrupt
If I complained, distress would not return to me

10. No, nor would imagination visit my pillow
My abode has become, because of love, a camp

11. Where they have settled instead of tents, in my valley
For none but my passions have I inclined, as if

12. They were created according to my passion and desire
So when will the tents appear to me and in their name

13. I will call out in every land of love
And with that singer I will become engrossed

14. Not with melody, Zainab or tryst
And I will set out from the clay slope slipping away

15. Avoiding him, the watcher of that club
And I will say to the heart that has strayed

16. From the paths of guidance: "Good news! Here is your guide!"
This is the Chosen One, the treasure from which

17. His method has been specified for guidance
This is the son of Zamzam, the Sacred Monuments, and As-Safa

18. And the son of Hatim and the valley of that wadi
These are his hands which the brother of Hajj

19. Would refrain from describing, even if his hands were long
This is the caller who calls to the paths of guidance

20. And the way of every integrity and righteousness
This is the one who, when he came with the sword

21. Many a tryst became other than a tryst
This is the one who strove patiently in God

22. In establishing the religion of God - what jihad!
For this one, the trees when he called came rushing

23. Moving on feet without haste
From the sublime narratives and accounts, speaking of him

24. Will suffice you upon hearing the voice of the guide
And through his progeny, the most honored of mankind

25. And through his companions - people of piety and glory
A people who, whether they made peace or fought

26. Were generous like floods and brave like lions
How many they left dead on the plain

27. Between white antelope and brown lions
Their swords had become accustomed to tumult

28. And exchanged the zeal of enemies for sheaths
And out of passion for them, they race

29. To the valley of death, like racers
To them, the brown and white gazelles

30. Were naught but brown and white shrouds
They sported on their steeds

31. As boys frolic on a day of playing
They triumphed through the best of messengers

32. And through him attained abundant glory and lands
He is the refuge, when wars flare up

33. And increase, and killing becomes like loss
He is the intercessor for sinners when those souls

34. Complain of the heat of agony
For God's sake, repeat his mention in my hearing

35. For reciting his praise has become my habit
O best of messengers, of noble traits

36. And most virtuous and excellent of worshippers
I have recited verses praising you, hoping

37. Through them my account will be folded on Judgment Day
Take them to you as a greeting

38. From one whose passion has increased with little provision
I have clothed your praise with delight that went

39. Beyond intention and deserved presentation
The towns aspire to generosity - and if you recite

40. Give good tidings of bestowing wellbeing and prosperity
For his right, O Lord, make my reasons through it

41. Easy, and make firm my pegs in piety
And make your prayers upon the Guide everlasting

42. Never ceasing, without end
And upon his kin and companions with whom

43. Conclusion is beautiful and digression is fine
The ears never grow weary of talk of him

44. And through him pearls are adorned in creation
And the breeze blows infused with fragrance

45. And the wild beasts sing in ecstasy on the tent poles
