1. Honor your father's friend wherever you meet him,
And love nobility in whoever initiates it.

2. Relieve the one in need, for if you were once,
In need, he would have relieved your need.

3. And if the wayfarer comes to you, give him
From the surplus of the bounty God gave you.

4. Do not spread any gossip you have heard,
And be cautious of what informs you of it.

5. You will see the ignorant of the people leaving his honor
Defiled, yet wiping his shoe and its straps,

6. With holes, if he Contents himself with his soul,
Like an enemy to it, wanting its demise.

7. Do not say something famous,
You cannot take back once it has passed.
