1. May Allah curse the protector of evil; you do not desire him
Nor does anyone who fights against him hope for him.
١. لَحى اللَهُ مَولى السوءِ لا أَنتَ راغِبٌ
إِلَيهِ وَلا رامٍ بِهِ مَن تُحارِبُه
2. He promises but does not give, and claims that he is generous,
Yet his soul and manners refuse.
٢. يَمُنُّ وَلا يُعطي وَيَزعُم أَنَّهُ
كَريمٌ وَتأبى نَفسُهُ وَضَرائِبُه
3. So the closeness of the protector of evil is like his distance;
Rather, distance is better than an enemy you draw near.
٣. فَما قُربُ مَولى السوءِ إِلّا كَبُعدِهِ
بَلِ البُعدُ خَيرٌ مِن عَدوٍّ تُقارِبُهُ
