1. The wise man is wise through his deeds,
Not through his words and speech.
١. إِنَّ الفَقيهَ هُوَ الفَقيهُ بِفِعلِهِ
لَيسَ الفَقيهُ بِنُطقِهِ وَمَقالِهِ
2. Likewise the leader is the leader through his character,
Not through his people and men.
٢. وَكَذا الرَئيسُ هُوَ الرَئيسُ بِخُلقِهِ
لَيسَ الرَئيسُ بِقَومِهِ وَرِجالِهِ
3. And so is the rich man rich through his state,
Not through his possessions and wealth.
٣. وَكَذا الغَنِيُ هُوَ الغَنِيُ بِحالِهِ
لَيسَ الغَنيُّ بِمُلكِهِ وَبِمالِهِ
