فإذا سمعت بأن مجدودا حوى

1. When you hear that a rejected man embraced a piece of wood, and it bore fruit in his hands, believe it!
And when you hear that a deprived man came upon water to drink, and drowned in it, verify it!

١. فَإِذا سَمِعتَ بِأَنَّ مَجدوداً حَوى
عُوداً فَأَثمَرَ في يَدَيهِ فَصَدِّقِ

2. If wealth could be obtained through ruses, you would find me clinging to the stars of the horizons.
But the one destined for poverty is denied wealth - two opposites, how can they converge?

٢. وَإِذا سَمِعتَ بِأَنَّ مَحروماً أَتى
ماءً لِيَشرَبَهُ فَغاصَ فَحَقِّقِ

3. The most deserving of worry among God's creations is a man of ambition worn down by meager sustenance.
And the misery of the wise and the pleasant life of the fool are proof of God's decree and wisdom.

٣. لَو كانَ بِالحِيَلِ الغِنى لَوَجَدتَني
بِنُجومِ أَقطارِ السَماءِ تَعَلُّقي

4. Indeed, the one granted affluence who earns no reward or praise is not successful.
Perseverance brings closer every distant matter, and perseverance opens every closed door.

٤. لَكِنَّ مَن رُزِقَ الحِجا حُرِمَ الغِنى
ضِدّانِ مُفتَرِقانِ أَيَّ تَفَرُّقِ

٥. وَأَحَقُّ خَلقِ اللَهِ بِالهَمِّ اِمرُؤٌ
ذو هِمَّةٍ يُبلى بِرِزقٍ ضَيِّقِ

٦. وَمِنَ الدَليلِ عَلى القَضاءِ وَحُكمِهِ
بُؤسُ اللَبيبِ وَطيبُ عَيشِ الأَحمَقِ

٧. إِنَّ الَّذي رُزِقَ اليَسارَ فَلَم يَنَل
أَجراً وَلا حَمداً لِغَيرُ مُوَفَّقِ

٨. وَالجَدُّ يُدني كُلَّ أَمرٍ شاسِعٍ
وَالجَدُّ يَفتَحُ كُلَّ بابٍ مُغلَقِ
