1. O sun of radiant beauty with no setting
Is Aram your abode or are you an Arabian sun?

2. You left and my eyes shed bloody tears
My tears flowing with sorrow tinged in blood

3. I swear to God the Most High, He who witnessed my agony
On the day we parted, so sad and gloomy

4. The evening gleamed in the distance at Liwa
Was it your radiance or your brilliant smile?

5. Your day is filled with sorrow like the night
As if the dark-skinned and fair are equal

6. Your joy after you left is but fleeting
And the morn without you is woebegone

7. I implore you by God, O breeze of morning
Where did you settle after us, O Zainab?

8. You only brought tidings of her sweet scent
Else, what are souls for if not for her gentle waft?

9. O clouds of sorrow, why do we yearn
When your tails are dragged withdrawn?

10. Bring us news of the one we pine for
Since your time with her is more recent

11. Alas! Though thoughts of her torment me
Some torment cleanses the soul of blight

12. Did you play in meadows, O breeze?
To entertain the youth, a fun troop?

13. Or did the watering make her sick
When you refreshed her, though she did not drink?

14. O you who complained of time’s tyranny
Where are the Pleiades, the Lion, and Hydra?

15. One who braved the seas of darkness prevails
The steeds of honor are his ships

16. Is there no refuge in the desert
If the path for a man gets too straight?

17. I will roam the night even if
It were a serpent or snake to shun

18. My resolve is tempered, my determination is firm
Though planets may stray, my course stays true

19. I bear my pride which needs no lineage
To lead to glory, no roots traced

20. I travel the high road therein in darkness
Its caravan gleams like comets alight

21. The roads to glory can only be known
Taken by the best of the best of men

22. If merit has a father, it is
The son of the Banu Abdulaziz clan

23. The finest mettle, fired to prove
Their place on high, no credentials needed

24. They are a family, if gathered or born
They bring pride to any council or band

25. With them, Qahtan falls from glory
Walking behind them, overpowered

26. Their visage white like lightning flash
As if their ancestors sent down sweet rain

27. They have a fire in the darkness of night
A lofty dune or watchful tower

28. Their dwellings harbor, their homes
Expand with bounty or provide haven

29. Wherever glory’s domes are pitched
Pillared by the noble and starry eyed

30. The stallions roam free, white oryx graze
Safe from enemies, red fox roams unfazed

31. Glory bound tight and valor unbridled
Wrath unleashed like the bursting of clouds

32. Only a noble knight could build such glory
Pride of the gathering, a ship made worthy

33. Fate does not yearn for him nor do days
Prosperity wants only whom he desires

34. He sees the heights as the best to attain
Gratitude the finest thing to reap

35. Success clings to him, does not waver
Ease is his shadow, follows after

36. A noble star, his light is the moon
His reformer, the turner of spheres

37. In war, he hurls piercing arrows
The brave hero prays when he shoots

38. His blade clashes with the water
Fire matches his strike in fervor

39. From his blade comes peerless gems
That reap souls but cannot be reaped

40. Each comet near him is dormant
Each lightning flash tamed at his hand

41. His scabbard parts to reveal his blade
As algae lifts off the surface of a pond

42. He strikes the helm with wondrous blows
Raising the dome of pride on high

43. He pierces through the armor of his foe
A planet bursts forth in the clash and cry

44. On his mount, four eagles take flight
East and west fold before them in might

45. His neighing tells of his noble breed
His nature demonstrates his excellence

46. If he sought prey when mounted
His rider finds nothing escapes his grasp

47. The winds walk humbly behind
In awe of his speed, lightning itself marvels

48. With him every meadow is adorned
Every pasture ornamented and bright

49. His forelock waves like a bough
Blown by the morning breeze in delight

50. His hooves, if still somewhat green
Leave the air stripped bare of motes in flight

51. He carries valor none but the sword can equal
No talons compared to his piercing might

52. He brought him near every landmark
A molded minaret or ship sailing night

53. A brown doe or one just the same
Stabbing with all her might as she takes to flight

54. Buzzing with poison and the nectar of bees
Some of the swarm is hoped for, some is blight

55. You see from her dye the essence distilled
Strung as pearls, unpierced, gleaming bright

56. Voiceless yet eloquently speaking
Her nature demonstrates her excellence

57. Such are riches created for bliss
Their radiance never wanes or fades from sight

58. From a Giver I never knew before
That glory in totality could be granted outright

59. With willpower lofty, cannot be surpassed
Resolve unwavering, cannot be overcome

60. And wisdom that falls short in description
By the most ornate poet with jewels of insight

61. My portion of fate mourned by him
Mended what cracked or split outright

62. My refuge, a lofty towering peak
Rivaling the stars, a shoulder to lean into night

63. A pinnacle rose on the horizon for him
Where Aldebaran and Capricorn alight

64. I harnessed my double-edged sword to his side
What was taken by force could not be relinquished in fight

65. Inspired by him, my poetry flows like a spring
As the meadow is slit by the roaming comet’s light

66. So the Pleiades, since adorned by it
Are envied by virgins and turning grey of sight

67. Yearning for it, though above all homes
In the highest peaks is where they take flight

68. The gorgeous gazelle is newly betrothed
And her match is the first to propose her right
