1. Show me kindness, I hide that within me which is passion,
Did not my conscience act as translator of what is within me?

2. And I am still shy before people, that I should see
A wrong done to my beloved, or that I should see one wronged,

3. By Allah, the morning has not dawned since when
I made a pledge, except that I was then content,

4. And my heart melted today from yearning and love
For you, and none sympathizes with my heart about them,

5. So do not be astonished that I complain wronged,
For it is time for the wronged one to complain.
