1. O one who died before me, sorrow and regret have been prolonged
And yearning has exceeded in me the limit I can describe

2. My heart toward you is inclined despite separation
While you from me, relaxed, are turning away

3. So if today you are diverted from brotherhood with me
Then Allah knows I have no diversion from you

4. Give me, I admitted I have no passion
Did it not suffice that you are not avenged?

5. How much I lied to my heart so it lied to me
The prolonged yearning and a tearful eye

6. If one day I made a mistake that preceded me
Then now before ruin makes me perish

7. Oh Allah, oh Allah, my soul is impaired
And no gratitude remains behind

8. Yearning has subjugated my heart so it admits
That humility in the ruling of love is honor

9. So act as you see fit, I do not call you aggressively
Nor say to a thing you said is excessive
