1. I disobey the Most Merciful
Due to my madness and cheapness

2. Then to all people
Both near and far

3. Cheapness of youth, a gazelle
I could not hunt it down

4. And I have longed in the dwellings
Of Al-Khureymi for revenge

5. Hoping to hunt a gazelle
With beauty and softness

6. Hunting it is harder than hunting
Predators and hunters

7. O gazelle, O gazelle of youth, O owner of splendor
And folds like shining hills in plain view

8. Then a rump like palm trees
And innards of perfect form

9. I am steadfast in preferring you
I profess and pursue

10. I do not care who berates me
For you or seeks to belittle me

11. You have tormented my soul
So when will I be saved from you

12. So I fear the Most Merciful regarding us
And beware of the day of requital

13. A scene where feet are held accountable
And forelocks seized

14. They asked me about the poets of mankind
Did they dive into deep waters

15. I said poetry that would make the deaf hear
From the top of their heads

16. And singing girls enticers
Passionate about possessing me

17. We have pledged our love to each other
How excellent such a pact

18. And a gentle, cheerful drinking companion
Clear of face though disobedient

19. A Qurashi from the tribe of Abd Manaf
Among the allies

20. Freely spending without hesitation or stinginess
Destroying wealth in pleasures, fearing requital

21. She and he were given to drink
By a splendorous cupbearer

22. From flasks of pressed grapes
Not flasks of lead

23. And with us the darkest cheeked one
Like an Abyssinian with filed teeth

24. That is from disobeying Allah and my indulgence in sins
