1. Husaynah turned away and broke with those she turned from
And made separation from you after union

2. Husaynah, when she stood to bid us farewell
For the separation, gathering aloes wood and coral

3. Is nothing but a howling wild she-camel who was let down
By a black or lead-colored wild beast

4. Or a gazelle of the gazelles of Huwah who became disgusted
Turning aside bursting forth with herbage and pebbles

5. Spring in its most beautiful garb brought its meadows to flower
Where she grazed, sprouting freely herbage and cardamom

6. Yearning for the kohl of your eyes, days and nights cease not
To sleep not parting from longing for you

7. When she hoped it would be possible for her, it refused
Except to oppose her and let her down

8. A young camel who inspires awe in the vestiges of one departing
You see in it a blue eyelid and perfidy

9. When she appears from one garden she descends into
Another where the wild cows wander confused

10. She will never be tossed about on a land where
She won’t find in it two guests of God

11. Among His creation, He clothes them and provides for them
Day after day, never asking a price

12. For them is a Guardian, Protecting, who does not waste nor
Escape His knowledge wherever they may be

13. With power which the passage of time does not increase
For them distance, nor from them inattention

14. Indeed al-Walid, Commander of the Faithful, decreed
A matter which the low and high alike would convey

15. A decree by which God protected the servants
And they became in the Book of God brethren

16. After discord and clear rancor
And forbidden killing which occurred when it occurred

17. So the matter after God its leaders have become
The children of Al who were angry over the killing of Uthman

18. Commanding piety to God regarding their nation
And being well-wishers of good, aides

19. And saying, “Every glorious thing has come before us
So present to us in it others than ourselves”

20. In severity alive who benefits for them
Him who drinks the water willingly and unwillingly

21. Were it not for God and the people of Jordan it would have ignited
The fire of the community on the day of turmoil

22. They were visitors to the people of Syria who knew
When they saw among them injustice and hatred

23. They made an appointment until when they gathered
They marched altogether and said “God is our Master”

24. On the morning of the march most of them were not
In the ranks row upon row or among the horses horsemen

25. Nor insight into the matter by which they would be guided
Like the dawn which the vigilant recognize

26. On a morning calling while eyes were humbled
“O our Lord, make sincere the authority”

27. So God whitened on the day of turmoil their faces
With His victory and by the sword of God, Marwan

28. And by his son after him, Abd al-Malik, so indeed
They increased the gratitude and faith of reasonable minds

29. Then God chose for Islam after the two of them
From the people of their house, a light and clear proof

30. Al-Walid saw him worthy so appointed him sovereign
And chose from us one whom he approved and we approved

31. So praise be to God when He delegated to us the Caliphate
And ordered for us the best in religion and most just

32. Bitter enmity brought misery to the obstinate through it
Sweet when no suspicion troubles it

33. We are the flock and the Merciful protects us
And you upon the earth after God tend us

34. He ruled against them - for him in truth they knew
The utmost sincere counsel secretly and openly

35. They see obeying him as obeying their Lord
And disobeying him as disobeying God

36. You are by God's permission a rain He sent
Reviving the Muslims and prosperity to the land

37. You see none attaining like your attainments
Nor buildings in the land like your buildings

38. He built mosques for Islam gathering
And left no house of idols as it had been

39. A church whose stones the `Aad quarried
From the mountains, the eastern slopes of Lebanon

40. From each thumb the snow covers its peaks
Until it melted and appeared in summer bare

41. Rugged precipices dusty in its declines
You see in it etching out ravines

42. In it are the flutes of whistling pipes
Repeating from it the echoes of the rocky valley

43. They built its aqueducts until when they made
For it from common stone pillars

44. So excellent was the work of your builders, they rose
Above those who were sung of in bygone times

45. Covered with the work of artisans joined together
Almost snatching sight with its brilliance

46. As if they are the rainbows of summer when
It has scattered its pearls and the wind made them quiver

47. When Suhail sheds its clouds from it
You see from it with the rainy clouds colors

48. Your command regarding the people of Tawwana was of
Victory beyond us and God gave victory

49. A matter you made firm by God's permission its knots
Increasing good in our religion and world

50. The acme of the good you were given was
Mighty victory, stability, and clear proof

51. Blessings from God increased the piety of the Muslims through it
And with praise to God it was recognition
