1. They have reached the limit with them,
So from whom shall we seek salvation?

2. Do you not see them full of rage
Spreading misery in the country?

3. Each sees himself as master
And each sees himself as pillar

4. When he sits arrogantly in his ignorance
On a seat left empty for him

5. The noble among them is like the wicked
So neither virtuous nor master is his servant

6. They lost integrity and he who
Lost his sanity with his rebellion

7. They say we are pillars of the country
Yet prepared no equipment for loyalty

8. As if the country needed
Lies and pettiness

9. Many a bigwig in Lebanon
Wallows in dust dirtying his cheek

10. You see servants and palaces with him
Yet no honor do you see

11. Boasting vainly of his ancestors
As if people don’t know his ancestors

12. He tries to hide his flaws
Exposed by prostration

13. Wretched yet arrogance clothes him
Would that he never wore clothes

14. Would that she who birthed him had tossed him
And not sullied his cradle

15. But she is a monkey who birthed him
Does a monkey not birth a monkey?

16. My people we need
Champions of determination

17. Who sacrifice their souls
For solidarity and unity

18. And for truth come together
And embrace right as one

19. When a knot forms in the country
Work to untie this knot

20. Why do you remain asleep
And not wake from slumber?

21. When a reformer stands among you
You all stand against him

22. So allow not the tyrant’s rule
To flay your skin

23. Shout for the return of what
He stole of our morals, return it

24. You destroyed our moral edifice
Where will you sleep now?

25. And built a temple of deceit, so fell
The foundations its builder laid

26. An old garment you dressed us in
Yet we yearn for new

27. The era of ambiguity has passed
Ours annuls its era

28. The time has come for light to set a limit
As the sword of darkness drew its limit

29. A sword lay rusting in its sheath
Seeing its sheath as its grave

30. I guided my friends to my spring
But they strayed and sought no drink

31. My sweet spring is but peace
Melting the schemer's schemes

32. My friends, though misfortunes parted us
My heart will keep its praise of you

33. It will shower you with flowers though
You denied affection and love

34. It will remember your kindness if
Fate desired your absence

35. It will forgive all your thorns
For to it your thorns are roses
