1. O you who made pleasing the Master your trade,
And sold your pearls for it and your homes,

2. And it is known of you among people that
You are not mentioned even if your leadership is great,

3. Delicate, soft, valiant warriors,
Aloe wood though it be cracked in its metaphors,

4. O you who when people fear their cowardice
Fulfill your duty of protection towards those who seek refuge,

5. The wisest young man atop a lofty summit
Wishes if you were his neighbor or yours was,

6. I am fond of you since old and sing your praises,
And listening if you gesture to me your gestures,

7. And I count not any sudden overwhelming calamity,
As long as I can visit you and not your visitation,

8. And I express not what I came here for to you,
Except through you so understand from me my expression.
