2. Patience and solace were awakened, igniting
A fire of sorrows in my heart's depths,

ููุงุฑู ุจูุฑุญู ุงูุฃุญุฒูุงูู ูู ุงูุฃุญุดุงุกู
3. And passion, longing, and melancholy were kindled,
As tears flowed from my heavy eyelids,

4. Running like the holes of a pouring waterskin,
A trace after days of companionship with chaste friends,

ุง ุชุฌุฑู
ุซููููุจู ุงูู
ููุฑููุฉู ุงููููุฑูุงุกู
5. The righteous and the nobles.
Its beauty was wasted by nights of yearning
ูฅ. ุทููููู ุจูุนุฏู ุนููุฏู ุฏูุนุฏ ุนูููุชูู
ุงูููููุจูุงุกู ูุงููููู
ูุงุกู
6. For the downpours of the constant drizzle,
Its signs faded and its prime vanished,

ุชู ุฅููููุงููุงูุชู ุงูุฏูููู
ูุฉู ุงูููุทูุงูุกู
7. Deteriorating from its pristine perfection.
If it appears now as an empty wasteland

ููุชูุฑูุฏููู ู
ูู ุณูุงุจูุบูุงุชู ุงูุนููุงุกู
8. With confused tracks and a weeping eye for its ruins,
The beholder sees in it only a mirage

ู ุนูููุงูููุฌู
ูุนูููู ุชูุญููู ุนูู ุงูุฃุทูุงูุกู
9. After the lovely vision that appeared to his eye.
For how many graceful wild cows were in it,

ููุฑูู ุงูุฑููุงุฆูู ููููู ุฅูุงูู ูุคูุงู
ุจูุนุฏู ูุฃูู ููุจุฏูู ููุนูููู ุงูุฑููุงุฆูู
10. With smooth legs and fawn-like eyes.
And maidens with pendulous breasts and round hips

11. In their youthful prime with naรฏve coquetry,
Ladies of prominent lineage and soft beauty

ูุฉุด ุงูุฑููุฏูู ููุฏููุฉู ุงููุฐูู ู
ูุฎูุงู
ูู ุงูู
ููุงุนููุฏู ุทููููุฉู ุนูุฏุฑุงุกู
12. Whose kisses after fate's blow had the taste of myrrh,
And honey and golden nectar,
ูกูข. ุบูุงุฏูุฉู ุบูุตูู ู
ูุนุตูู
ูุงููุง ูุญูุฌูุงู
ููุง ุนูุฑููุจู ูููููุงููุฉู ุบููุฏูุงุกู
13. And who had a melody at which the earth quaked
And the barren desert burst into bloom,

14. While their wine-stained mouths
Were colored by passion's dye.

ููู ูููููููุถูู ููุงุจุณู ุงูุตูููููุงุกู
15. And how often I visited its dwellings after they were lost,
While my enemies only sought my ruin.

ูู ุงูุญููููุงุกู
16. Yet separation from it did not make me forget it,
Nor did the blame of those who censured my love,

17. O Dauแธ, if only your acceptance could heal
My heart, sickened by following selfish passions,

18. O Dauแธ, how often I was passionately in love with you,
Enamored with the stars and flower gardens,

19. And how often I endured the insults of separation
Just for the chance to meet you, though you were hostile.

No, nor has your resistance kept me from meeting you,

21. So have mercy on a faithful lover whom
The ruins and passing days have wasted away,

22. And whom your glances like arrows shot by
Dark-eyed gazelles have struck deaf and dumb.

23. And the wailing nights and echoes
And terrifying jinn with their eerie sounds

ููููุฉู ููุฌูุงูุกู
24. As if the clamors were intermingled with each other.
I came at night while darkness covered the plump arms

ูุบุจุฑููุฉู ุงูุฃุฑุฌูุงุกู
ููุงุฆุญูุงุชู ุงูุฃูููุงู
ู ูุงูุฃุตุฏูุงุกู
25. And bosoms of maidens on a pleasure outing.
She rushes like a phoenix, longing in her seclusion

ูููููุฑูุงุชู ูููุฌูููู ูููุง ุนุฒููู
ููุฅุฎุชููุงูุทู ุงูุถูููุถูุงุกู ุจุงูุถูููุถูุงุกู
26. For the thickets and ruined dwellings,
The oryx begins to bellow mournfully when

ุธูู
ููู ููุชูุงู
ุกู ุงูุฏูุฑุงุนูู ุฌูุณุฑูุฉู ููุฌููุงุกู
27. Weariness makes her indifferent at the cistern,
Soon the weeks after separation will pass
ูขูง. ุญูุฑููุฉู ูุงูููููููู ุชูุดุชูุงูู ุนูู ุบูุจุจุชู
ุงูุณููุฑูู ูููุฅุฑููุงูู ูุงูุฏูููุฏูุงุกู
28. And the honest youth will return at daybreak,
The brilliant sun of guidance, the Imam Abu Bakr,

ูุง ุงูุนููุณู
ุตูุงุฑูุช ุญูุณุฑูู ู
ููู ุงูุฅุนููุงุกู
29. The pious protector of the radiant Way.
Through him glory was established after ruin
ูขูฉ. ุณูููู ุชูุฏูู ุจูุนุฏู ุงูุชููุฑูุงู
ูู ุฃุณูุงุจููุนู
ููุชูู ุงูุตููุฏูู ุบูุฑููุฉู ุงูุฃูุฏูุงุกู
30. And error corrected after going astray,
Through him the darkness of ignorance faded into morning

ุณู ุงูููุฏูู ุงูุฅู
ูุงู
ู ุฃุจู ุจูููุฑ
ุงูุชููููู ุญูุงู
ูู ุงูุณูุฉ ุงูุบูุฑููุงุกู
31. And knowledge shone after being hidden,
O refuge of the weak in every tribulation,

ูุฌุฏู ุดููุฏู ุจูุนุฏู ุฅูููุฏูุงู

ูุจููู ุงูุบูููู ููุฏูู ุจูุนุฏู ุงูุจูููุงุกู
32. O generous one of mothers and fathers,
O life of the two brilliances, O meeting of the two seas,
ูฃูข. ูุจููู ุฑูุจุนู ุงูุฌูููู ุขุถู ููุจูุงุจุงู
ูุจููู ุงูุนููู
ู ุถูุงุกู ุจูุนุฏู ุงูุฎูููุงุกู
33. O you who warn and encourage,
O protector of the orphans and shelter for all humanity,

ููุงูุฐู ุงููููููููู ูู ููููู ุฎูุทุจู
ููุง ููุฑููู
ู ุงูุฃู
ููุงุชู ูุงูุขุจูุงุกู
34. O source of kindness spreading in every region,
O Imam of the pious in knowledge, O you who are
ูฃูค. ููุง ุฅููุงุฉู ุงูุดู
ุณูู ูุง ู
ุฌู
ูุน ุงูุจุญุฑููู
ูุงุฐูุง ุงูุชููุญุฐููุฑู ูุงูุฅุบุฑูุงุกู
35. The guiding lamp in the dark night,
I have a heart that ignorance and corruption have ruled,

ูุงูู ุงูุฃูุชูุงู
ู ูุงููุงุณู ุทูุฑูุงู

ููููุถู ุงูุขูุงุกู ูู ุงููุงููููุงุกู
36. So it is a den of echoing voices,
Weak, neglecting righteousness and seemliness,

ููู ููุจูุฑุงุณู ุฏูุฌููุฉู ุงูุนููุตูุงุกู
37. Quickly inclined to error and disgrace,
It has made desire and selfish whims its masters,

ู ุงูุฌูููู ูุงูููุณููู ุจููู
ููููู ุนููุจุฉู ุงูุฃูุตุฏูุงุกู
38. Misguided by corrupt opinions,
It was long engrossed in musical gatherings
ูฃูจ. ู
ูุชููุงูู ููุงูู ุนูู ุงูุฑุดุฏ ูุงูุญูููุง
ุณูุฑููุนุงู ูููุบูููู ูุงูุนููุฑูุงุกู
39. And drinking spiced wine from rosy lips
Of singing girls, so rectify its mirror
ูฃูฉ. ูููููุฏู ุงูููุณู ูุงูููููู ู
ููู ุฌููุง
ููููู ู
ูุบุฑูู ุจูููุงุณูุฏู ุงูุขุฑูุงุกู
40. Through discipline and wisdom's recitation,
And make it gentle, for how often have you softened

ูุบุฑูู
ุงู ุจุชูุงูุญูููู
ู
ูุฒูุงู
ููุฑู ุงูููููุฉู
41. Hearts harder than solid rock through your mention,
And save it, for it will be most wretched if not saved

42. From being barren and unproductive.
May your prayers be upon me like the gentle wind

43. And ambergris perfume on one honored with the Night Journey.
How the leaves of sadness for you have withered, and how my yearning

44. Has ceased that once cried out in passion.
