2. So you spent the night with tearful eyes,
And it is the right of your eyes to be tearful.

3. Your tears are dripping and sufficient,
Sliding down the cheek if they are wiped.

4. The morning breeze stirs up your passion,
Though it would have been gentler if it blew.

5. Lightning flashes and the meadow smells fragrant,
Foliage laments and love is unfaithful.

6. A nightingale sings and a bulbul sleeps,
A specter nods off and a courtyard is vacant.

7. And whatever lively partridge there was,
You remembered your lively partridge.

8. And if you tasted a cool draught,
You remembered that cool draught.

ูจ. ูˆุฅูู† ุฐูู‚ุชูŽ ุตูŽุงูููŠูŽุฉู‹ ู‚ูŽุฑู‚ูŽูุงู‹
ุชูŽุฐูŽูƒู‘ูŽุฑุชูŽ ุตูŽุงูููŠูŽู‡ู ุงู„ู‚ูŽุฑู‚ูŽููŽุง

9. So you are nothing but a confidante of love,
And you have no remedy for its pain.

10. As if you were Ahmad in his ordeal -
"Are you the leader who has led?"

11. So he said, "Is that by a way
That is considered proper conduct and followed?"

12. I said, "By sorcery he reaps from sin
Whatever he wished to pluck.

ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ุฅูุซู… ู…ูŽุง ุดูŽุงุกูŽ ุฃู† ูŠูŽู‚ุทูููŽุง

13. And he has mixed sorcery with his heresy,
A cure which removed an illness and was sought."

ุดูŽูุง ุงู„ุบู‰ ุฏุงุก ุจู‡ุง ูˆุงุดุชููŠ

14. And God has appointed scholars to defend
His confused utterances if they are confused.

ูกูค. ูˆู‚ุฏ ู‚ูŠุถ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุญูŽุจุฑูŽุง ู„ูŽู‡ู
ูŠูุฏูŽุงููุน ุนู† ู‡ูŽููˆูู‡ ุฅูู† ู‡ูŽููŽุง

15. He manipulated their hearts with sorcery
Until they became enamored and submissive.

ูกูฅ. ุชูŽุตูŽุฑู‘ูŽููŽ ุจูุงู„ุณู‘ูŽุญุฑู ููŠ ู‚ูŽู„ุจูู‡ู
ููŽุฃูŽู…ุณูŽู‰ ุจูู‡ู ู…ูุบุฑูŽู…ุงู‹ ู…ูุฏู†ูŽููŽุง

16. So he compiled a book about it
And decorated it with ornamentations.

ูˆุฒูŽุญุฑูŽููŽ ููŠ ู†ูŽุนุชูู‡ู ุฒูุฎุฑูููŽุง

17. Until he called them to the sea of knowledge
While he did not even know the alphabet.

18. His compilation did not follow the truth,
So it was said, which compiled it?

ููŽู‚ููŠู„ูŽ ูˆูŠูุญูƒูŽู‰ ุงู„ุฐูŠ ุฃูŽู„ู‘ูŽููŽุง

19. And he praises it to the feeble-minded,
So he destroyed with disgrace what he destroyed.

ูกูฉ. ูˆูŽูŠู…ุฏูŽุญูู‡ู ู„ูุถูŽุนูŽุงูู ุงู„ุนูู‚ููˆู„ู
ููŽุฃูŽุชู„ูŽููŽ ุจุงู„ู…ูŽูŠู†ู ู…ูŽุง ุฃุชู„ูŽููŽุง

20. And if he had been honest with the people about it,
Its bottomlessness would have warned them.

ูขู . ูˆู„ูŽูˆ ุตูŽุฏูŽู‚ูŽ ุงู„ู†ู‘ูŽุงุณูŽ ููŠ ุดูŽุงู†ูู‡ู
ู„ูŽุญูŽุฐู‘ูŽุฑูŽู‡ูู… ู‚ูŽุงุนูŽู‡ู ุงู„ุตู‘ูŽูุตูŽููŽุง

21. And he owes a debt to those whom
He called to this matter, if he were fair.

ูขูก. ูˆุฅูู†ู‘ูŽ ุนูŽู„ูŽูŠู‡ู ุญูู‚ููˆู‚ูŽ ุงู„ุฐูŠู†
ุฏูŽุนูŽุงู‡ูู… ู„ูุฐูŽุง ุงู„ุฃู…ุฑู ู„ูŽูˆ ุฃู†ุตูŽููŽุง

22. So I said, โ€œLeave off wading into his religion,
For I was more knowing of it than you.โ€

ูขูข. ููŽู‚ูู„ุชู ุฏูŽุนููˆุง ุงู„ุฎูŽูˆุถูŽ ููŠ ุฏููŠู†ูู‡ู
ููŽู‚ูŽุฏ ูƒูู†ุชู ู…ูู†ูƒูู… ุจูู‡ู ุฃุนุฑูŽููŽุง

23. โ€œFor I accompanied him for a period,
A watcher over him, though he will not know.

ูขูฃ. ููŽุฅู†ูŠ ุตูŽุงุญุจุชูู‡ู ุฃุฒูŽู…ูู†ุงู‹
ุฑูŽู‚ููŠุจุงู‹ ุนูŽู„ูŽูŠู‡ู ูˆู„ูŽู† ูŠูŽุนุฑูููŽุง

24. And I had some of his secret with me,
Repugnant things that drew bitterness to my heart.

ูขูค. ูˆู‚ูŽุฏ ูƒูŽุงู†ูŽ ุนูู†ุฏูู‰ ู…ูู† ุณูุฑู‘ูู‡ู
ู…ูŽู†ูŽุงูƒูุฑู ุฌูŽุฑู‘ูŽุช ู„ูู‚ูŽู„ุจูŠ ุงู„ุณู‘ูŽููŽุง

25. And I came to him one night,
And witnessed of his matter what was hidden.

ูขูฅ. ูˆุฅู†ูŠ ู‚ูŽุฏ ุฌูุฆุชูู‡ู ู„ูŽูŠู„ูŽุฉู‹
ูˆูŽุนุงูŠูŽู†ุชู ู…ูู† ุฃู…ุฑูู‡ู ู…ูŽุง ุงุฎุชููŠ

26. And I witnessed the foundation of his approach,
And the approach of his emulating followers.

ูขูฆ. ูˆูŽุนุงูŠูŽู†ุชู ุฃุณูŽุงุณูŽ ู…ูู†ู‡ูŽุงุฌูู‡ู
ูˆู…ูู†ู‡ูŽุงุฌูŽ ุฃุชุจูŽุงุนูู‡ู ุงู„ู…ูู‚ุชููŠ

27. It is falsehoods and nonsense,
And destruction of the Law of the Chosen One.

ูขูง. ูˆูู‡ูˆู‘ูŽ ุงู„ุฃุจูŽุงุทููŠู„ู ูˆุงู„ุชู‘ูุฑูู‡ูŽุงุชู
ูˆู‡ูŽุฏู…ู ุจูู†ูŽุง ุดูุฑุนูŽุฉู ุงู„ู…ูุตุทููŠ

28. And I witnessed of him that he
Feigned religiosity, a sufficient act.

ูขูจ. ูˆุดูŽุงู‡ูŽุฏุชู ู…ูู†ู‡ู ุนูŽู„ูŽู‰ ุฃู†ู‘ูŽู‡
ุชูŽุตูŽู†ู‘ูŽุนูŽ ููŠ ุงู„ุฏู‘ููŠู†ู ููุนู„ุงู‹ ูƒููŠ

29. A man came to him seeking hospitality,
Greeted and complimented him, and implored.

ูขูฉ. ุฃุชูŽุงู‡ู ุงู…ุฑูุคูŒ ู…ูุณุชูŽุถููŠูุงู ู„ูŽู‡ู
ูˆุญูŽูŠู‘ูŽุง ูˆุจูŽูŠู‘ูŽุงู‡ู ูˆูŽุงุณุชูŽุนุทูŽููŽุง

30. A young man well-versed whom the course of time
Had bent, so he limped.

ูฃู . ููŽุชู‹ู‰ ุญูŽุงููุธูŒ ู‚ูŽุฏ ุทูŽูˆูŽุงู‡ู ุงู„ุทู‘ูŽูˆูŽู‰
ูˆู‚ูŽูˆู‘ูŽุณูŽู‡ู ุงู„ุณู‘ูŽูŠุฑู ููŽุฃุญู‚ูŽูˆู‚ูŽููŽุง

31. So he said to him, โ€œGo, and do not stay,
For you are not suited for the door of towns.โ€

ูฃูก. ููŽูŽู‚ูŽุงู„ูŽ ู„ูŽู‡ ุฅุฐู‡ูŽุจ ูˆูŽู„ุงูŽ ุชูŽู„ุจูุซูŽู†
ููŽู„ูŽุณุชูŽ ู„ูุจูŽุงุจู ุงู„ู‚ูุฑูŽู‰ ู…ูŽุตุฑูููŽุง

32. โ€œFor the Qurโ€™an is not honorable here,
The light of the scholars has outshone it.โ€

ูฃูข. ูู„ูŠุณ ุงู„ู‚ูุฑุฃู†ู ุจูู…ูุฌุฏู ู‡ูู†ูŽุง
ููŽู†ููˆุฑู ุฑูุฌูŽุงู„ู ุงู„ุนูู„ููˆู…ู ุฃู†ุทูŽููŽุง

33. So he dismissed him, and the youth turned away,
And spent the night addressing and scratching the wall.

ูฃูฃ. ููŽุทูŽุฑู‘ูŽุฏูŽู‡ู ูˆุฃู†ุซู†ูŽู‰ ููŽุงู†ุฒูŽูˆูŽู‰
ูˆูŽุจุงุชูŽ ูŠูุนูŽุงู„ูุฌ ูˆูŽุฎุฒูŽ ุงู„ุณููŠ

34. And he said, โ€œI will take the path
That God ordered the people of spiritual excellence.โ€

ูฃูค. ูˆู‚ูŽุงู„ูŽ ู‚ูŽููŽูˆุชู ุงู„ุทู‘ูŽุฑููŠู‚ูŽ ุงู„ุฐูŠ
ุจู‡ ุฃู…ูŽุฑูŽ ุงู„ู„ู‡ู ุฃู‡ู„ูŽ ุงู„ุตู‘ูŽููŽุง

35. โ€œFor the people of knowledge, in their disdain,
Are closest to God in what He chooses.โ€

ูฃูฅ. ููŽุฅูู†ู‘ูŽ ุฃููˆู„ูู‰ ุงู„ุนูู„ู…ู ููŠ ุณูŽุจู‘ูู‡ูู…
ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ู‚ูุฑูุจู ู„ูู„ู‘ูŽู‡ู ู…ูŽุง ูŠูุตุทููŠ

36. He spent the night without his prayer carpet,
Not performing the prayer, to his own detriment.

ูฃูฆ. ูˆูŽุจูŽุงุชูŽ ู…ูุตูŽู„ุงู‘ูŽู‡ู ู„ูŽู… ูŠูŽุฃุชูู‡ู
ูˆูŽุจูŽุงุชูŽ ุนูŽู„ูŽู‰ ู†ูŽูุณูู‡ู ู…ูุณุฑูููŽุง

37. And he had become a disgrace to his neighbors
When he sought disgraceful sins and overstepped.

ูฃูง. ูˆู‚ูŽุฏ ุจูŽุงุชูŽ ุนูŽูŠุฑุงู‹ ู„ูุฌูŽุงุฑูŽุงุชูู‡ู
ุฅูุฐูŽุง ู…ูŽุง ุงูŽุจุชูŽุบูŽู‰ ู…ูŽุฃุซูŽู…ุงู‹ ุฃุณุฌูŽููŽุง

38. Dragging his staff, appearing full,
So that you would think him the well-dressed dandy.

ูฃูจ. ูŠูุฌูŽุฑู‘ูุฑู ู…ูู…ุชูŽู„ูุฆู‹ุง ู‚ูุตุจูŽู‡ู
ููŽุชูŽุญุณูŽุจูŽู‡ ุงู„ู…ูู‚ุฑูŽู…ูŽ ุงู„ุฃูƒู„ูŽููŽุง

39. He was not refraining from suspicion,
Nor were they refraining from suspicions about him.

ูฃูฉ. ููŽู…ูŽุง ูƒูŽุงู†ูŽ ุนูŽู† ุฑููŠุจูŽุฉู ุนูŽุงุฒููุงู‹
ูˆู…ูŽุง ูƒูู†ู‘ูŽ ุนูŽู† ุฑููŠุจูŽุฉู ุนูุฒู‘ูŽููŽุง

40. So when it was time for mid-morning,
And he was done with his messages to satiation,

ูคู . ููŽู„ูŽู…ู‘ูŽุง ุชูŽู…ูŽูƒู‘ูŽู†ูŽ ูˆูŽู‚ุชู ุงู„ุถู‘ูุญูŽู‰
ูˆุนูŽุจู‘ูŽ ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ุฑู‘ูุณู„ู ุญุชู‰ ุงูƒุชููŠ

41. And he passed by one of his loversโ€”
And his way with his lovers was familiarityโ€”

ูคูก. ูˆู…ูŽุฑู‘ูŽ ุจูุฅูุญุฏูŽู‰ ุนูŽุดููŠู‚ูŽุงุชูู‡ู
ูˆุฏูŽุฃุจู ุนูŽุดููŠู‚ูŽุงุชูู‡ู ููŠ ุงู„ุฑู‘ูููŽุง

42. He laughed raucously, his voice reaching
Until it resonated towards the caves.

ูคูข. ูˆู‚ูŽู‡ู‚ูŽู‡ูŽ ุฌูŽู‡ุฑุงู‹ ู…ูŽุฏูŽู‰ ุตูŽูˆุชูู‡ู
ุฅูู„ูŽู‰ ุฃู† ุชูŽุชูŽุงุจูŽุนูŽ ู†ูŽุญูˆูŽ ุงู„ู‚ูŽููŽุง

43. He came and called for the prayer to be established,
And presented his prayer carpet, the most ornate.

ูคูฃ. ุฃุชูŽู‰ ููŽุฏูŽุนูŽุง ุฃู† ุชูู‚ูŽุงู…ูŽ ุงู„ุตู‘ูŽู„ุงุฉู
ูˆู‚ูŽุฏู‘ูŽู…ูŽ ู…ูŽุฃุจููˆู†ูŽู‡ ุงู„ุฃุบู„ูŽููŽุง

44. And he slapped the ground with his face,
As the cheek of the mountain is slapped.

ูคูค. ูˆุญูŽูƒู‘ูŽ ู…ูู†ูŽ ุงู„ุฃุฑูุถ ููŠ ูˆูŽุฌู‡ูู‡ู
ูƒูŽู…ูŽุง ุญููƒู‘ูŽ ู„ูู„ู‡ูŽุฑุดู ุฌูŽู†ุจูŽ ุงู„ุตู‘ูŽููŽุง

45. And he exclaimed the Takbir secretly without intention,
Thinking the situation like that of concealment.

ูคูฅ. ูˆูƒูŽุจู‘ูŽุฑูŽ ุณูุฑุงู‘ู‹ ุจูู„ุงูŽ ู†ููŠู‘ูŽุฉู
ูŠูŽุธูู†ู‘ู ุงู„ู…ูŽู‚ูŽุงู…ูŽ ู…ูŽู‚ูŽุงู…ูŽ ุงู„ุฎูŽููŽุง

46. And he came to stand at the right of the imam,
Though that is a matter which, if witnessed, would be scandalous.

ูคูฆ. ูˆู‚ูŽุฏ ุตูŽุงุฑูŽ ุนูู†ุฏูŽ ูŠูŽู…ููŠู†ู ุงู„ุฅูู…ูŽุงู…ู
ูˆุฐูŽู„ููƒูŽ ุฃู…ุฑูŒ ู„ูŽูˆ ุงุณุชูุฎู„ูููŽุง

47. And he glanced with his eyes towards passion,
And said to it, โ€œLighten up, lighten up!โ€

ูคูง. ูˆู‚ูŽู„ู‘ูŽุจูŽ ุนูŽูŠู†ูŽูŠู‡ู ู†ูŽุญูˆูŽ ุงู„ู‡ูŽูˆูŽุง
ูˆู‚ูŽุงู„ูŽ ู„ูŽู‡ู ุฎูŽูู‘ูููŽู† ุฎูŽูู‘ูููŽุง

48. So he hurried until I thought him
To be, with his lightness, Waleed who was abandoned.

ูคูจ. ููŽุฃุณุฑูŽุน ุญุชู‰ ุชูŽุธูŽู†ู‘ูŽูŠุชูู‡ู
ุจููƒูŽูู‘ู ูˆูŽู„ููŠุฏู ุจูู‡ู ุฎูŽุฐุฑูŽููŽุง

49. So when they turned for the greetings and turned away,
And remained clinging to its edges, bent over,

ูคูฉ. ููŽู„ูŽู…ู‘ูŽุง ูˆูŽู†ูŽูˆุง ุณูŽู„ู‘ูŽู…ููˆุง ูˆุฃู†ุซูŽู†ูŽูˆุง
ูˆุธูŽู„ู‘ูŽูˆุง ุจูุญูŽุงููŽุงุชูู‡ู ุนููƒู‘ูŽููŽุง

50. He said, upon you be straying misguidance
And deprivation of wellbeing, if fully realized.

ูฅู . ููŽู‚ูŽุงู„ูŽ ุนูŽู„ูŽูŠูƒูู… ุจูู‚ูŽููˆู ุงู„ุถู‘ูŽู„ุงูŽู„ู
ูˆุญูุฑู…ูŽุงู†ู ุนูŽุงูู ุฅุฐูŽุง ู…ูŽุง ุฃุนุชููŠ

51. And help for slanderers and foolish minds,
And ignorance of knowledge and knowledge of betrayal.

ูฅูก. ูˆู†ูŽุตุฑู ุงู„ู†ู‘ูŽู…ููˆู…ู ูˆุทูŽูŠุดู ุงู„ุญูู„ููˆู…ู
ูˆุฌูŽู‡ู„ู ุงู„ุนูู„ููˆู…ู ูˆุนูู„ู…ู ุงู„ุฌูŽููŽุง

52. And prevention of prayers and abandonment of prayer,
And withholding of charity and neglect of loyalty.

ูฅูข. ูˆูŽู…ู†ุนู ุงู„ุตู‘ูู„ุงูŽุชู ูˆูŽุชุฑูƒู ุงู„ุตู‘ูŽู„ุงูŽุฉู
ูˆุตูŽุฑู…ู ุงู„ุฒู‘ูŽูƒูŽุงุฉู ูˆู‡ูŽุฌุฑู ุงู„ูˆูŽููŽุง

53. So they said, โ€œYour bequest is heard,
And you are prepared for the Day of the Rendezvous.โ€
