1. I saw you, O son of Abu Kamil
Well-versed, possessing many books

2. Knowledgeable of the affairs of this time
And the conditions of non-Arabs and Arabs

3. You discern the different behaviors
What is blameworthy and what is not

4. So you do what is most appropriate
And avoid that which should be avoided

5. Is it justified in your view, or permissible
That a free man takes back what he gifted

6. Especially what he initiates
Before being asked or supplicated

7. You gifted us with a piece of land that
Whoever resides there is like an exile

8. In a remote area, not to be visited
Except by bearing harm and fatigue

9. Unless with effort in the journey
And fear for one's soul, not to be robbed

10. You obtain provision there, if you do
Far and hardly accessible

11. And find water sweet after two nights
If rain has not poured on it

12. So we thanked you in both worlds
And poems and speeches flowed

13. And we praised to express gratitude
With some truthful and false words

14. As if you located for us a house
Suitable, disliked by no one

15. Encompassing what souls desire
Beyond it one sees no other desire

16. While we evaluate the construction
And ask how lumber can be sold

17. To start the work, we were distracted
By nothing but your retreat

18. Is this your religious or moral practice?
Or proper etiquette?

19. What can we say to our brothers
If one of them asks, what is the cause?

20. You know what the answer would be
And they will not be convinced unless we respond
