1. O you who with him the ages prosper
And to whom the cycles submit

2. And when he prevails in his ascension
Every eyelid with him is awake

3. The unwise lover has been reproached
So he returned from his easy union

4. And I am confused how to respond
While he is aware of what I've said

5. So overlook the clear mistake
In which the love of him revives

6. Then our eyes met
While our hearts differed

7. With my mouth I translated meanings
My conscience was stingy in declaring them

8. And we kept on acting coyly
While glances between us played messenger

9. Nights persisted intoxicating
And time suckled its breast

10. Imagine it in cups a secret
While its drinking is joy

11. Until barriers destroyed
And mouths took its blend

12. Rejoice in what has delighted a lover
Your affair in his soul serious

13. May Allah be faithful to you
And through him our misleading epoch

14. Creation has become agitated
While you are the gentle, pure one

15. You were gentle and good until
Your nature translated perfume

16. Still for me you are plentiful kindness
For I am poor in praise
