1. How excellent was the effort of Tameem son of Khandaf,
And what his summer residence erected and built up high.

2. They are the choice part of ancient glory,
The generous, prohibitors, accomplished in every craft.

3. A chapter of war which spread out its authority,
Our weapons and sharp cutting swords.

4. A terrifying gap which we blocked with warriors
Swift to it when the cries for help hasten.

5. You see the neighbor feeling safe in us
Even if the tender maidens were surrendered to him.

6. When it is said, "A live man of Tameem," neither the villages
Are slow nor does time quickly pass.

7. And the master still remains among us,
He is guided to glory, the banner raised high.

8. Teach me to be brave while spears are drawn,
Courageous when councils turn to me.

9. I am proud yet souls are humiliated,
Sternly resolved while eyes float about.

10. My words precede my sword and I am
A separator with them both when disaster strikes.

11. I do not bow my head to the vile with praise
Even if bare mountains exhaust me.

12. Many an obeyed man fills awe
Feared by him are shiny Indian swords.

13. The mouths of kings vie for his favors
And the sly befriend him.

14. He wanted to detract from me so I rose with an advocate
Whose words frighten the censorship and hearings.

15. I took him aside so neither words bow
For trying desperately to dodge him nor does the cheek show submission.

16. Talk of my superiority spread where neither winds can be guided
A path nor can birds arrive.

17. And if I come to lead the House of Darrum
I compete on behalf of their accounts and fight back.

18. In gratitude for the reward from the people of Antar
Praise which spreads once suppressed.

19. The stallion of war, though his excuse is inadequate
For one who disdains, his generosity is ample.

20. Bitter fighting fitted the saddlebags of his sword
To a hero whom events extol.

21. He prances until the hostile army fears his war,
And tosses gently until plots contain him.

22. A sword, when unsheathed it separates,
And rainfall, when called upon, pours heavily.

23. The polished rider of preparedness
Whinnies to accompany his noon dust.

24. Spurred so the hollows of his feet match
The spurs’ violence and speed.

25. The two pendants of preparedness and courage clash
The vanguards of foes yet he, ravenous, craves more.

26. His flanks tremble from the quaking of battle fever
And worries quake between his sides.

27. As if his darkness is infected skin while he
Is the letter “n” wrestling with temptations.

28. When the Iraqi lightning perceived his mark,
Fires were lit so ambitions roused him.

29. It guided him to the Pride of Religion, flames of glory
With burning blaze above the hot sands flare.

30. Igniting it the sparkle of topmost joy,
Unrestrained smiles and floating eyes.

31. Soon the guest lands’ ashes approach in droves
And destruction when barriers challenge him.

32. So he brings abundant livelihood after barrenness,
And his fears subside where souls quake.

33. Near inviolable dwellings, the quintessence of bliss, he lodges,
Preferring whatever the days bring, content.

34. For the celestial, the house of Warram and terrestrials,
They bloom in the sky of glory like flowers.

35. A people who clothe the horizon in darkness
From early dawn until stars emerge.

36. When war’s heat intensifies they risk souls
With resilience, praiseworthy deeds in its midst.

37. They have enormous repute and orbiting glory,
And outreaching hands grappling equally outreached hands.

38. As if the gardens of sorrow remembering their praise
Resemble one halting there listening.

39. You are the sword of the kingdom, loftiest in status,
If the high posts were shared on the day of pride.

40. My words about you were not without knowledge
But my evidence to what I say is evident.

41. In you lies loyalty which if partially
Divided over ages, strife would be endless.
