1. The defender of faith and answerer to every call
The impregnable fortress, abundant in bounty,

2. Dispeller of drought and war’s misery
Between the yellow sands and the white swords.

3. He whom the cowards dislike in battle
Yet the brave count on in the day of strife.

4. Noble Ashqar has come in your present state
Of terrible burdens and tribulations.

5. Generous and free in his giving
Without any humility or request.

6. So I send forth this praise, to water the gardens,
Drenched by early dew and late rains.

7. For a dignified man, firmly allied in peace
And bold at war beneath the banners.
