1. If I am weakened by your absence,
Then my love for you and passion are my excuse.

2. If it were not for my fervor towards you depleting my strength,
And its causes now affirmed and exemplified,

3. I would not have tossed sleeplessly in my bed while between us
Were horses racing as on the day of the wager.

4. Whoever loves as I love you
Is rightly wary of attachment while it is present.

5. I have loved a prince of glorious Dhawabah,
Whose people pride themselves on him and the tribes,

6. Dignified, though desires of the people surge towards him,
Brave, when the bows slacken and the keen swords.

7. Swift in aiding the pleading cry and wealth of
The destitute, if a downpour fails and supporters are few.

8. In tribulations, his resolutions are swords,
In adversities, his views are armies.

9. The eloquent and scribes acknowledge his merit
When judgment is difficult and rainclouds tarry.

10. His word allows no dispute,
His generosity no comparison to cloudbursts.

11. God protects his defense of the faith’s honor, which
His lofty principles that avoid transgression secure.

12. Father of Ja’far, crown of kings, by which
Seats of excellence became edifices.

13. A minister whose agreeable conversation
Causes men to surpass the finest merchant.
