1. When I look upon his face
I thank fate and cease lamenting;

2. And to me the loss of wealth is slight
When the glorious cannot be attained through ruin.

3. He is the musk whose excellence
Offends the noses of the eminent yet markless.

4. He meets misfortunes with God's fortitude
Thus delivering those who seek deliverance.

5. The spring of generosity and the wintry night
Of Taqwa is Mu'tasim, refuge of the fearful offender.
