1. Bring my swords and steeds near, and see the truth of my striking and pursuing.
And let me be, from the tales of passion; for the sublime is between slackening the reins and galloping ahead.

2. That my body became diseased, burning, so for the love of glory, not for the love of happiness,
The war of the active tribe confused my right and did not observe my friendship.

3. So the white swords and spearheads sought revenge from the throat and the gentle one.
And upon the living there were many debts, from foolishness, objection, and oppression.

4. Whether they spoke or not, he raised merit to the most vehement.
They resented his highness which he had attained, while youth is the greenest wish.

5. The severity of impetuous youth belittles words that mock the bending of branches.
And behind harm is a bitter soul that softens dignity in the fray of battle.

6. Whenever I brandished my swords against the enemies, and harm came with more delay,
Seeking the day of moist spears, my cup the horizons, lined with supreme power,

7. The gloom of pits clears in the morning, from the pillows of soil or the possession of countries.
Repeat your glance in my cheek, as the dawn clothed it in black attire,

8. Lightning flashes from its edges, with cuirasses, swords, and armor.
The rain cloud appeared, but its water is the milking of udders, not the direction of camels.

9. It filled the holes with men and spears and steeds, like scattered locusts.
And the stabbing continued until the inscribed were made wretched with mourning sustenance.

10. And the striking came pursuing, just as Ali bin Tiraad accompanied generosity.
A lion to be feared, and a rain to be hoped for, in abundant wealth and subjugation of foes.

11. He cuts off peers without a roar, and spreads generosity without thunder.
The bearer of debt, the stirrer of battle, the cutter of nights without sleep.

12. Continuous in flavor, making it delicious, when engaged in contention and friendship.
Captivator of hearts from his sleeves, and to the captive he is salvation in days of war.

13. My words attained the honor of satisfaction, so he chose me ahead on the day of rivalry.
And for the rest of the people, there is merely market and rabble, while to him belong the necks of the guided.

14. I fashioned poetry and gifted it to you, the soundness of diction to the generous steed.
To a noble Hashimite, whose character is the paths of generosity and sending steeds.

15. Of people whose custom was Muhammad in deeds, in war and in companionship.
Subduing necks is fine game, people of night journey and pacts of Suhad.

16. With twisted locks, not braided, and palms not coarse.
Guests come to them in the darkness, each one lofty of fire, upright of pillar.

17. Vigorous in his hearing, two bow lengths, guiding people.
And the flowing of valor, its knowledge is polished, pertinent in every border.
