1. I praise him, shining like the day
Flooding the peaks with peace, free of shame

2. Dispelling the darkness of gloom and dust
Between a steadfast hero of dignity and composure

3. Good fortune in killing the ignoble and the tyrant
Whose excellence has yielded much gain

4. With a piercing, penetrating, repeating spear
His swords amidst the melee and darkness

5. Slaughterers of champions and nobles
The ever ready steed of eternal glory

6. Rising above the sea and ebb
When still, with composure and dignity

7. And if he marched, a ferocious lion
Vanquishing the resolute men of valor

8. Then Tameem, mine of pride
Preventing the eminent their high status

9. Pursuing the farthest vengeance
And the despoilers, hooves trampling

10. Heroes of the land like lions
Not slowed by the sands with their charges

11. Nor sleeping with slackened reins
Their hospitality abundant for many visitors

12. No need for howler or fire
Crown of kings, subduer of seas

13. And clouds, when bestowing downpour
And sword, when raging fiercely

14. Chosen one of the rightly guided leader
Destroyer of the sly plotter's staffs

15. With his counsel and cleaving blows
Minister of glory, reviver of relics

16. When the learned of cities and towns
Lion of statecraft, seasoned with peril

17. They contended with him in discourse
He left them confounded without a retort

18. His words among people like perfume
Or like a meadow breeze, fresh and vibrant

19. His character fine as parchment
Or chains flowing on skin smooth

20. May he live long, life upon life
Blessed with fasting and feasting

21. My poetry falls short praising him
So I pray most sincerely at dawn
