1. Allah has nurtured glory in Lu'ayy bin Ghalib
His nobility reaches heights none can attain

2. The generous parted in the hunt scattered about
While everything of Ibn Tiraad's is brought together

3. Broad is his generous chest if blamed
Disobedient, and if generous, obedient

4. The brightness of his face illuminates the dark night
And from it aspects of generosity are dimmed

5. His streaming generosity passes like
Impediments vying to honor him

6. And one like the minister Zainabbi when the spears
Collided between the throats on its streets

7. A youth whom the children of the noble turn to
Since long ago, and necks are the artifacts of his nobility

8. Knowledgeable of the secrets of hearts as if
His intimates in the unknown are his scouts

9. His talents are attributed to the excellent
His meanings subtle, his overflowing talents coarse

10. Firm against enemies, bitter is his taste
And coolness for intimates, pleasant are his ways
