When the meadow calls her and woos her,

اذا دعاها الروض واطباها

1. When the meadow calls her and woos her,
And the rose longs for her with its fragrance,

١. اذا دَعاها الروضُ واطَّباها
واشْتاقها الوِرْدُ على صَداها

2. And she mingles with its domains as she pleases,
With no limits set to restrain her,

٢. وخَلَطَتْ بِقاعِها رُباها
ولم يُرَمْ لِحَثِّها حُداها

3. And the north wind kisses and caresses her,
Then do not blame her for her misery,

٣. وشَفَّها الذَّميلُ وانْتضاها
فلا تَلوماها على شَقاها

4. Where Abu Al-Qasim seeks her,
Swift for the lofty ones in their abodes,

٤. حيثُ أَبو القاسِمِ مُبْتغاها
أبلَجُ للعلياءِ في ذُراها

5. If poverty approaches, he enriches her,
And if distress appears, he relieves her,

٥. اذا دَنا لِفاقةٍ أغْناها
وانْ بَدا لِكُرْبَةٍ جَلاها

6. Good fortune to the Prophet's land in its dwellings,
And to the brave steeds in its plains,

٦. طَبٌّ بعَقْر النِّيب في ممساها
وبالجيادِ الجُرْدِ في ضُحاها

7. The ignoble envy her in her advance,
Thus the minister attained his utmost desire.

٧. تحسُدهُ الحُفَّلُ في نَداها
فبلغَ الوزيرُ منتهاها
