1. I say to one whose eloquent speech flows
When the tongues of contention are tied,

2. A leader not bothered by missing out,
If an errant word escapes his discourse,

3. May God reward you, who by his grace
The state of glory has been exalted,

4. To the pillar of faith, the generous son of his honor,
A carpenter like the morning sun when it rises,

5. There lies the dew of care when clouds withdraw
And there lies protective zeal when eggs hatch,

6. Lively and bold whether barefoot or shod
When his superior qualities lessen his weapons,

7. He looks down on both horse and foot
In generosity and courage when horses take flight,

8. He wraps himself in a cloak like the towering height
When the text of a sermon is free of restraint,

9. Never ceasing to watch for every glory,
Even if the winds were to carry it away.
