1. Many a tribe did tyrannize, yet their pride was brought low,
And no camels were left to carry their supplies.

2. The horses of war refrain from charging at them,
And firm resolve withstands those who make excuses.

3. The rain is ashamed to wet one whose generosity has dried up,
And the lion scorns one whose bravery has weakened.

4. Frankincense, when it is burned, gives off its fragrance,
As if the perfume merchant had opened up his wares.

5. He is forbearing, keeping his word despite
Provocation, gracious even when offenses abound.

6. My companions rejoice in what they have offered me,
As if I were the original author of their words.

7. The endeavors of the excellent vizier are fruitful,
And his efforts have yielded beneficial results.
