1. Though I am absent from your lofty gatherings,
My soul and my praise are present, standing before you.

2. My poems adorn the mouths of the narrators,
And the assemblies are graced with my praise of you.

3. And I know that no matter what eloquence I attain,
My praise falls short of your glory.

4. The eminent long for your leadership, and the brave
Envy the comfort of your repose.

5. Dawn breaks on preachers of ignorance and darkness,
So evil is shunned and tremors subside.

6. The lofty religion grew under his youthful care,
So neither hardship is feared, nor panic fills the heart.

7. All that is difficult and extraordinary is easy for him,
And in his hand the ingenious find relief.

8. Generous in spending money in every crisis,
But with neighbor and honor he is stingy.

9. When the nobles count his superior merits,
Sa'd competes with an ample chest.

10. With him the kings adorn their rule,
And the obedient hosts submit to his command.
